Also, I must have missed something...what happened to Aromashodu? Apparently he got relegated to special teams only today, and Bennett took his spot in 3 WR sets. Rotoworld speculates that its because of his drops in week 1.

Yeah, there isn't going to be much of a running game.

It's really a passing offense with Martz. The screens and short passes ARE the running game. That actually works in our favor since this line just isn't going to blow open holes for runs up the middle consistently.

I will gladly eat crow tonight. I figured the Bears would hang with the Cowboys (would not have taken Dallas at the 8.5 line), but I didn't think they would have enough to keep up and kept expecting a key turnover to do them in.

Can this really be an elite offensive team? I know Martz has a track record, but these are the Bears we are talking about. The defense was opportunistic again like back in 2006. Bend don't break worked as they only gave up 13 points to the Dallas offense, which is one of the best in the league.

Big win. Bigger game next week, as it looks like this will be a 2-team race in the NFC North (Vikings are in trouble). Win at home vs. Green Bay and it would take a disaster to NOT be a playoff team this year.

I wouldn't count the Vikings out yet.

the line moved like 2 points in the bears' direction and more people were betting the cowboys. that means all the smart money was going toward the bears.

i guess we will see how important it is for jerry jones to have a puppet as coach. wade phillips is an absolutely terrible coach and if he stays around, we'll have our answer.

I'm not counting them out, but they've got to get better in a hurry. I know Miami and New Orleans have solid D's, but Favre looks miserable out there.

how about haynesworth and some cash for harris and a 5th or 6th rounder?

I'm assuming you mean Tommie. I'd consider it. Tommie is just never going to be the elite player he was supposed to be, but it's possible his supposed potential combined with his character issues would convince the Skins that they can maximize Tommie's potential.

He was well on his way prior the injury, as I understood it, his type of injury was, effectively, career ending. That is, there's little to no chance he's going to be the player he once was.

Lovie blamed a minor injury, but there's been a lot of speculation/unconfirmed rumors

That's what I heard too and that's ridiculous if true. He also had some good plays to go along with the drops last week. They didn't bench Knox for messing up his routes or Hester for not getting open, so I don't think Aromashodu deserved to be benched. He's better than Bennett.

Man...I read this last night, and can't get it out of my head. I know that Haynesworth is a headcase, but I really like this idea.

But he's not the same player as Bennett. And Martz can be expected to gameplan and use his pieces in many different ways depending upon the opponent.

The Sun Times bit I read said the Bears provided no official reason that Shodu didn't see much action on offense.

He's a different receiver. The Bears needed guys who could get open early and underneath, which the coaches probably believe Bennet does better than Aromashadu.

that probably happens every play

it definitely doesn't, but it doesn't appear that his feet moved forward, so the qb received the ball at the same spot anyway.

Yes it does, Kreutz does that every snap. Lots of centers move it forward.

It wasn't a cheat as the youtube diatribe suggests. This happens routinely. The refs know it and allow it, again -- routinely, as you said.

Oh, man. Can we just freeze that screen for all time? =D>

I didn't mean to imply Olin was cheating. I found the Cowboys fan's outrage hilarious.

Worst case scenario, he gets disgruntled here and has a bunch of his phantom injuries and doesnt play much for us. In that scenario we have to be comfortable starting Idonije (which I am) in his absence.

The thing about Haynesworth is that we have to find something to motivate him besides money. He seems like he doesn't care if he's playing because either way he gets his guaranteed money. If we cannot maximize his talent there's seemingly a sharp dropoff in impact between "Determined Albert" and "Less than determined Albert"

All that said, I'm still all for it.
