My quick & dirty opinion on the Vikes: they're still the 2nd best team in the division, with or without Favre (yes, even with Favre I still think of GB as the best in the North for '10/'11).

That ho better not play any part in him not coming back. Ugh, Jenn Sterger is the [expletive] worst.

She's the ho? How exactly? A married man sends her pictures of his dong and she's the bad guy?

I didn't say she was the bad guy in this situation. She's just [expletive] awful. She's one of the least likable people in the world. So was Favre. Then he became a Viking. So now he's not. She still is.

I don't really care about the off-field stuff unless they're committing heinous crimes. A married athlete sexting? Oh my God, what has this world come to?!!?!?! Next you're going to tell me they cheat on their wives too.

Actually, Favre becoming a Viking makes him a lot less likable. The Vikings are still a bunch of chokers with or without him. Just accept it and move on.

Quarterback Brett Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder that he has not made a decision to retire and will play for the Vikings this season if his ankle is healthy.

Favre also denied he sent text messages to teammates telling them he was going to call it a career.

Somebody's lying then. His teammates don't have any reason to. The only person who does is him. And there are two potential reasons: more money or more attention.

What an [expletive].

I really don't get why people don't just understand he's skipping training camp. That's what this has always been about. If he's thinking about retirement both he and the Vikings can justify not making him go while minimizing the "well if he's not going I'm not going" response from teammates.

His teammates wouldn't do that, they love the guy. LOVE him.

I would laugh if it was all a prank by Jared Allen and Pat Williams just to see everyone freak out. Really though, all of the reports only mentioned that the text said "This is it" which is incredibly vague and could give plausible deniability for everyone.

I wonder if the "This is it" text was followed by a picture message of his dick.

There's really no reason for Favre to do a training camp anymore, since he's proven that teams will still take him starting after camp breaks.

So really, anything that is said now is meaningless, whether it's a joke being played by someone, or whether it's Favre himself.

this link might not work. But deadspin started running a story last night about a female "we would know" having icky interactions with Favre. A commentator guessed Jenn Sterger, and it turns out this morning that he was right.

Here's another reason Brett Favre should stay retired this time: Turns out The Daily Line's Jenn Sterger has kept a ridiculously disturbing (but HILARIOUS) secret about her interactions with The Gunslinger while they were both part of the Jets organization.

He may have sent pictures of his junk to her.

I do have to say ... Jenn Sterger does look like Deanna Favre if you took off 20 years.

I love how the new ESPN angle is "Crazy old Brett Favre fooled us again. Guess he's not gonna retire afterall" when it should be "previously distinguised news organization jumps the gun and bases 20 hours of continuous coverage on a false report"

The Vikings are still a really good team even if Favre doesn't play. Jackson is a lot better than people are giving him credit for. His 2007 season (first year as a starter) was pretty crappy. But he made strides by 2008. He started the first 2 games of the year, and was lackluster, but came back in the last 4 games and put up QB ratings of 143.8, 135.5, 98.5, and 88.5. The last 3 were against playoff teams that year. He completed 64% of his passes, for 740 yards, 8 Tds and 1 INT in those 4 games, though he did have a crappy game vs. the Eagles in the playoffs.

Last year in the preseason, he also played really well. Same for when he came into games during the regular season. Favre isn't going to be as good as he was in 2009 either. But just because he isn't there doesn't mean that Rice is going to go back to pre-2009 Rice. Harvin is still going to develop. Berrian is still going to be solid. And T-Jack is going to make most of the plays that he needs to make. He's going into his 5th year in the system, I think he will be fine.

The Vikings may be a good team without Favre, but they aren't an elite team. With him, they are a top 3 team in the NFC and legitimate condender for the Super Bowl. Without him, they are still likely a playoff team, but fall from that elite status. If everything falls their way, they still may be a Superbowl team, but they fall into the 6-10 range if not lower in the NFC.

I still see a decent case for the Vikings being the 2nd best team in the NFC behind New Orleans even without Favre. I mean no one would be surprised if they won the NFC North with Jackson at QB. The West blows.

Are any of the Packers, Eagles, Cowboys, or Falcons clearly better than the Vikings w/o Favre? They could be but I don't see any definites there.
