he's been requesting and demanding that his $16m option for 2012 gets exercised in any trade.

While that's true, it's not going to happen it appears.

Rosenthal tweets that Oswalt's 2012 option will not be exercised; he'll be compensated some other way. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick tweets of a rumor that speedy outfield prospect Anthony Gose may be in the deal. AOL FanHouse's Ed Price tweets that he's hearing Gose and Worley could be in the deal.

Maybe he needs another tractor.

but he could get gonorrhea from a tractor

So uh, how are things with Jerry?

Ok I was going crazy trying to figure out if this was the Cardinals' guy or not. What did Stl get from the Jays for him?

Notta, Cardinals traded Wallace to the A's in the Matt Holiday deal. A's sent Wallace to the Jays for Michael Taylor (I think?)

Is there an over/under out yet on how many diferent farm systems Brett Wallace bounces between before he hits the majors?

Why the hell did the Jays trade Wallace for Gose? That makes even less sense than what the Astros got for Oswalt.

He's got speed dude.

Stole 76 bases last year with 20 CS. 79%, Not bad at all.

Now check out this year.

36 steals and 27 CS. That seems impossible.

So the Astros are about to turn this Oswalt deal into Happ, Wallace, Villar, and whatever the Angels are giving up for Berkman (think the Rangers are wishing they had waited before pulling the trigger on that Cantu trade?).

It's not a blockbuster, but it's potentially a solid return that saves cash in Houston.

I've got friends in Philly who don't like this trade because Happ is an "up and coming youngster with a lot of talent." When I try to tell them he's 28 and has been very lucky, they pretend they don't hear me. One said he prefers a rotation of Halladay/Hamels/Blanton/Happ/Moyer to Halladay/Oswalt/Hamels/Blanton/Kendrick. My friends aren't smart.

Where are you seeing that Berkman is going to the Angles? I havent seen it anywhere, just that Houston is entertaining offers for Berkman.

It does make a lot of sense though. Too bad Derrek had to be a wanker.

Educated guess. You have a team who is known to be in the market for a 1B competing in a division with another team who was also looking for a 1B and who actually pulled off a deal today. So, based on those factors, it just makes sense. I suppose the Braves could sneak in as well, but an Astros/Angels Berkman trade seems to make the most sense.

Which is probably why it won't happen.

You're right on the Wallace for Taylor swap last offseason.

when you consider that gose isn't even 20, he's been reasonably good in high-a. definitely needs to improve his pitch recognition, though.

brett wallace will hit, but he's a fatso and is probably going to be bad defensively no matter where he plays.
