In the last four games Vitters has a 1 AB game, a 2/4 game, a DNP and a 1 AB game. Is he nursing another injury, or in clear your head mode?

I hope this is not the case, but I read something about the manager being upset with him about not running the bases properly or making some bonehead play. Since that game, he has been relegated to part time duty.

It would seem to me that if he did make a mistake, AA would be the perfect place to make it and receive instruction.

Our Cobs don't know about teachable moments.

McNutt getting hit around a bit.

Wouldn't be surprised if he struggled a bit in Daytona. Obviously, it's the first start, so let's wait and see, but with such a raw changeup, best case scenario, this year for him in Daytona, at least, relative to my expectations, is to perform akin to how Rafael Dolis did.

Seems like he recovered well and had a decent outing.

Considering he had been hitting pretty well recently, I doubt it is the latter.

Brett currently rocking a totally sustainable 1.825 OPS.

I'm still liking him a lot more than the number 2 pick in the same draft, but yeah that's gonna drop a few hundred points or so.

Listening to Pat and Ron tonight during the game, and they were discussing Jackson. Ron went so far as to say he expects Jackson in AAA before the years over, and that he will be a Sept. callup this year. Does anybody else see this happening, or is this just Ron talking about stuff he really has no idea about.

i don't think that's likely. i can see him being a september callup straight from tennessee, depending on their playoff situation.

I'd really like to see Antigua get it together. He was one of my favorite prospects coming into the season.

Jae Hoon Ha with a homer tonight as well.

Is anyone else noticing the nice turn around Junior Lake is putting together?

For a guy who never seemed to have a clue about plate discipline, his numbers since the FSL all star break are .281/.425/.500 over 11 games with 32 ABs, 6 BBs and 12 Ks. In June, he's hitting .259/.403/.389 in 19 games and 54 ABs with 11 BBs and 20 Ks. He's still striking out a lot, but for a guy who walked only 18 times in 463 ABs last season (with 138 Ks) he's showing meaningful improvement. Considering he's still just 20 years old and playing above his age in the worst hitters' league in all the minors, there's still hope for him yet. He's got a long way to go, but at least there's progress.

That would really be a waste to start his arb clock ticking as a 4th-6th(or 5th outfielder depending what happens with Kosuke and Nady) on a dead ass team.

i'm pretty sure that september call-ups don't start the clock.

It does add to his service time. And of course adding him to the 40 man roster would mean that if he doesn't make the club out of Spring Training next year he'll lose his first option. Of course, if Jackson were added that early it look like he would be one of those that would get 4 minor league options.
