It does add to his service time. And of course adding him to the 40 man roster would mean that if he doesn't make the club out of Spring Training next year he'll lose his first option. Of course, if Jackson were added that early it look like he would be one of those that would get 4 minor league options.

 

I have a hard time thinking he'll make next year's team out of spring training, and I really don't want to burn an option unnecessarily on a guy like him. That, and the fact that the OF is packed with good but not great players just makes it less intriguing to me to give him a callup. Let him try and dominate AA for half a season.
