Hasn't the city of Detroit suffered enough?

If the Tigers want to take another crappy middle infielder from us, who are we to stop them?

I'm starting to love Jim Leyland.

Hendry probably asking for Miguel Cabrera in return

Don't be silly.

Verlander and Zumaya are the starting point of any Theriot discussion.

I hear that they offered a bag of balls, but we're holding out for one of their best stadium rats to handle balls of a different sort. However, I'm also hearing we'll drop our demands once someone realizes that nobody on the team could "hit it" anyway.

ba-da-ching :P

lol..You know Hendry would ask for the moon and values Theriot like he's the Jesus of baseball and probably telling them how much he hustles, brings heart and charisma to the playing field and team and carries the team by himself.

uh what

If that was in response to me, if I have to explain the (at least) two different meanings of "hitting it"...I'm not sure how to help out there. lol

Just a bad joke that we wouldn't want the ho because we can't hit anything anyway. Though now that I think of it I could see why someone might infer a 3rd meaning that I didn't intend.

Yep, my problem was definitely that I missed your double entendre

I would strongly advise Hendry to pull the trigger on a deal with 1 of these teams before whatever drugs are causing them to want Ryan Theriot wear off.

On player we might potentially be able to get from Detroit for Theriot is LHP Daniel Schlereth. He was the 26th pick by the D Backs in the 2008 draft, and I beleive was sent to Detroit in the Edwin Jackson deal. He had a rough spring training, but has been decent in AAA this year with a 3.26 ERA and 41 K in 30.1 innings. Hes still a decent prospect, so we might have to throw in something to sweeten the deal, but nothing huge.

I'd be stunned if we could get a guy like Schlereth. A little closer to what we could expect, I would think, is the Neifi to Detroit trade where we got Chris Robinson.

We could probably expect a bit more than that as Theriot is cheaper, younger and better, but Schlereth is probably shooting too high.

Or a better comparison might be Todd Walker for Jose Ceda. Walker was a better player than Theriot, but Theriot is younger and cheaper and, my guess would be, more valued around the league than Walker.

I wouldn't expect the moon for Theriot, but something along the lines of a DeRosa deal could be attainable. Stevens/Archer/Gaub was considered a mixed bag of C-level prospects with some upside at the time and it seems to have panned out pretty well. I could see a team giving the Cubs a grab bag for Theriot.
