A 33-year-old resident of Lundar, Manitoba is facing numerous charges after allegedly making a series of 911 calls which included demanding RCMP officers somehow bring the National Hockey League back to the province.

"He began the conversation by saying he wanted the Jets back. He was quite upset about it," a justice source told the Free Press on Wednesday. The incident occurred last year but was never reported publicly by police. The Free Press uncovered details this week through court documents.

the funniest part of that is the thought that he is just now noticing that the jets are gone. shouldn't he have been doing this 14 years ago?

"If you’re coming to get me, can you bring me some smokes," was his reply.

sure they'll stop off at a convenience store and pick up a pack, what brand do you smoke?

Good job Bowman, now hopefully we can fit Niemi in.

i think moving reasoner clears the way for beach, actually. gives a little more room, but really downgrades the 4th line center position, which i guess isn't the worst thing that could happen.

That works too.

Man, those first two lines are still damn good, but the bottom two lines could get interesting.

I'd just like to strut a bit and note that I've been calling this move for a while. Now I feel all high and mighty... or something... I think. Maybe.

I think that Jake Dowell will almost certainly make the roster. He'll be a 3rd/4th center depending on what happens with Bolland and Sharp. Taffe is no guarantee to make the roster.

Good move. Reasoner would have helped replace Madden, but obviously he's not worth nearly as much as Niemi.

if either bolland or sharp are gone, i will be absolutely shocked. if dowell makes the team it will be as the 4th line center, which wouldn't be bad, he's even cheaper than taffe if that's possible.

Sorry if I wasn't clear -- I meant whether or not Sharp is a center or a wing. Meaning, whether Sharp centers the second line with Bolland on the third, or if Bolland is on the second. There's no way that Sharp or Bolland are going anywhere.

Meanwhile, in a potentially interesting development, there are rumors of the Hawks possibly preparing to offer 19-year-old University of Minnesota defenseman Nick Leddy a contract.

Leddy was one of the most impressive players at the recent prospects camp, singled out Bowman for his play over the four days.

"Nick Leddy was excellent," Bowman said at the conclusion of prospects camp. "It's the first time we've seen him here in Chicago because we traded for him during the season, but he's really smooth out there. He's going to be a Blackhawk for many years."

If the Hawks do have interest in signing Leddy, it could add some substance to the rumblings of Bowman shopping defenseman Brian Campbell.

The Hawks might see the smooth-skating Leddy as a replacement for Campbell.

Not a fan of that. A 19 year old replacing Campbell? Why didn't we just do that in the first place if we were going to move Campbell?

If it happens apparently the prospects camp made a big impact on their decision, which is one reason why they didn't just do it from the beginning. Also, a Campbell trade is going to be all about timing. At the outset of free agency, when they had to clear space, the demand for Campbell's contract could have been much lower than it is today, once free agency has cooled off and teams know where they stand and what is available.

okay, that makes sense. if the second line went sharp/bolland/hossa, that would be fine with me, 2 kick-ass lines are nice. although i like the idea of having 3 solid lines as well. q will probably micro-manage during the season and find a comfort level, i imagine. just as long as we have room to experiment in the playoffs.

the sharks are a team that is top-heavy and has great success in the regular season being that way, but in the playoffs, you have to be able to find the right match-ups and mix it up.

i also don't understand why people at sch want to dump kopecky so bad. i kind of fell in love with kopecky in the playoffs, that guy has some magic to his game, plus he's big and kind of a horse's ass on the ice. i like how he was one of the guys who got in pronger's face with some bad slovakian breath and the image of him talking [expletive] to a half-conscious carcillo makes me smile.

he's hossa's designated friend, too, which is a bonus.

all-in-all, he's a big player that has a few tricks and a mean streak. he's an adequate replacement for ladd.

Red Wing fans absolutely despised Kopecky. He started out last season being pretty useless for us, but he was a pretty valuable piece during that solid run the entire 4th line had before the Olympic break. If I remember right, he was pretty good for Slovakia in the Olympics too. I'm sure they hate him even more because he was actually somewhat useful for us.

He's Hossa's friend and was basically signed because of Hossa. I don't see him being traded at all.

so how many empty spots do we have left to fill?

well...you know....starting goalie.

i know but a week or two ago we had 6 spots to fill and we've signed a handful of guys since then so i didnt know if niemi was the only piece left or if we had a few other slots open still
