I recorded that whole game when it aired on NHL Network this past weekend. I hadn't really seen it much. We were there, and that afternoon back here in St. Louis there were bad storms that knocked our satellite out. So I sat and watched that last goal about 20 times. Definitely the biggest moment of the whole run.

Yep...I recorded it too, and now when I'm bored, I'll watch the last few minutes of the 3rd and OT. Was the catalyst for the entire playoff run, imo.

Kaner knows how to get those dramatic goals, doesn't he?

Honestly, I think that's the game that made me a fan... I watched every minute of the Hawks run after that.

Yeah, that was well beyond belief. Most amazing hockey moment I've ever seen.

Most amazing Hawks moment. I still lose my [expletive] thinking about that diving empty netter in the olympics against Canada.

Most amazing Hawks moment, yes.

I can't forget about the boys of Lake Placid...

By the way, that championship DVD was a little underwhelming. I think I'll be checking out the bigger multi-disc set that is coming out later this fall. The main "documentary" was about 62 minutes. It was nice to relive the whole season, it just didn't seem to add much in the way of never-before-seen footage, that sort of thing. It was just a bland chronicle of events. They need to get Steve Sabol on the case.

It was mildly disappointing. I thought there would be more highlights of the various series, important goals, and such. Like Game 5 against Nashville -- how about the whole play to win in OT?

The extra were pretty nice though.

See I don't think I'll be disapointed tonight when I watch because I kind of expected it to not have a ton of action or parts of games. From what I understood, it's basically a 1 hour movie about the Hawks season, not necessarily a bunch of clips of plays from throughout the season. If you want that get the box set that's apparently coming out in October (I plan to).

I also heard the Blu Ray edition isn't the highest quality either. Someone said it was on BR25 instead of dual layer (?!) I have no idea what that means, maybe someone here can explain how that affects the quality of the blu ray.

You're expectations are right where they need to be. It is just like "Learning to Fly", and all those Bulls movies.

The only VHS tapes I still own are a couple of those Bulls movies.

Right after they won a friend asked when I was buying the DVD. He is a pittsburgh fan who has the DVDs for Steelers and Penguins championships, and he watches them at like 3 in the morning instead of just going to bed. I find that weird.

lol

I don't know I guess I could watch all the highlights on youtube. I guess I was just sick of hearing all my friends in other cities bragging about watching their championship videos, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

I'll watch one or two on opening day (for the Bulls) each year.

i really don't get why people buy these videos

So how old were you when you suffered the massive head trauma?

Seriously, I could never see myself sitting down, popping in the DVD to watch the video of a sporting event that I already know what happened and just about every other side story that went along with it.

I see your point nowadays, with youtube and 40 or so sports channels. It made more sense though when the Bulls were winning, and you couldn't see highlights at will.

See how I vindicated my own purchases while agreeing with your point? How awesome am I?

Depends what's on the video. It's like anything else. It can be done quickly, cheaply, and in mediocre fashion. Or it can be really well done with great content and good production.

With how quickly this came out, it doesn't surprise me to hear the lukewarm comments.

I don't know about you but I greatly enjoyed the Hawks winning the cup, it gave me a lot of joy. If I can recapture even 5% of that joy from popping in the DVD, its worth it every time. Youtube is nice, but until youtube can play blu ray quality movies on a 52 inch TV, this is worth my money.

It's also cool to watch a DVD that Canucks fans will never have from their team.

Yes, I enjoyed the Cup. I would not get much enjoyment from watching DVDs of the games later on though. It already happened. I know it happened. If a game was on ESPN classic while I was flipping through channels, then I could see watching it for a few minutes, but actually putting it in the DVD player and watching the whole thing wouldn't do much for me. If it's 20 years from now and they haven't won another cup it's only going to start annoying me to see video of when they were good. 85 Bears highlights aren't fun anymore.

i've got this MJ box-set that I throw in a few times a year. i don't go all overboard with the special magazines and all that, but having a sweet video reminder set to suspenseful music is cool every now and again. you probably just don't love sports enough.

I agree to an extent, but I still get some enjoyment from seeing the old highlights when we're talking about exceptional events such as a Championship run.

It *does* piss me off to see '85 Bear highlights and know we aren't close to that good now. But I still enjoy seeing those Wilbur Marshall hits every once in awhile. Or Jimmy Mac's crazy antics.

so if you watch a movie or tv show and really love it, you won't watch it again in the future?

I would, but movie/tv is a bad comparison to a sporting event.

and you know the DVD isn't just replays of the games, right? it's highlights with interviews and footage we haven't seen you before. i don't understand why you don't understand why people watch them.
