Where does McNutt rank amongst our pitching prospects? It looks like he walks a lot of people but has some pretty impressive numbers, and is only 20.

After Cashner and Jay Jackson, McNutt probably has put himself right there with Carpenter, Rhee, and Archer, at least for me.

That sounds about right for me.

He's in my top 10, behind Cashner, Jackson and Carpenter when it comes to pitchers and just ahead of Archer.

Thanks for the input, fellas. I have pretty mediocre knowledge of the minor leagues, but I'm definitely liking the looks of our pitching.

Speaking of pitching, Casey Coleman continue his run of being a reliably good workhorse. I'm not quite sure what the Cubs could do with him considering the logjam in the rotation and the fact that he'd most likely only be middle relief/mop-up as a reliever, but it's nice to have him succeeding in Iowa.

Kyler Burke with a 3 run homer, his 3rd in his last 6 games. It'd be great if this is the start of his turnaround.

5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Admittedly his 3 strikeouts are of the 7-8-9 hitters in Cedar Rapids' lineup.

That was his final line. I think I'm pretty much ready to see him in Daytona and possibly even Rusin in Tennessee.

This is sort of what I expected for Raley, though. I think it's the exception and not the rule when 2 way collegians move to full-time pitching and have success right away, like Jay Jackson. Raley as a pitcher was, arguably, more upside than, say, Jay Jackson coming out, IMO, and I expected some inconsistencies.

Any news on Bristow? Man, I had high hopes, considering that it would be another year away from surgery, and considering his good finish to last year.

Burke's been slugging. Just have to make more contact. Easier said than done. LeMahieu has been really stroking it in the past 10 as well.

Coleman throws strikes and gets enough groundballs that I could see him in middle relief for a year, filling the role Justin Berg was supposed to take. There's really no room next year for him, even if the Cubs find a way to move Silva (not impossible, 1 yr, 6 mil, someone might bite, particularly if the Cubs eat a 1 mil or 2). That said, I'd rather Casey be at AAA at the start of the year, to act as a stopgap SP callup. Another year in AAA will be fine ... easy to forget that this is his 2nd full season of pro ball.

For all the attention top prospects get, it seems like the guys who have made an impact in the majors from the Cubs farm system have been middle of the road prospects that took advantage of the playing time they've been been able to get.

Theriot, Fontenot, Soto, Wells, and Russell for example have all done well without much hype. Who are the guys we think can be solid under the radar contributors?

I like Darwin Barney, Coleman, and Diamond, though Diamond was once a pretty highly rated SP in Texas' system, I believe.

What about Schlitter? From what I remember he throws hard and his control seems to be imporving of late.

Marmol and Mitre were pretty under-the-radar, too

Casey McGehee also.

Casey McGehee also isn't any good at baseball.

He's the Alex Cintron for a new decade.

He is 27 years old has a seasons worth of games under his belt and a line of .297/.356/.498 for a 126 OPS+. At what point is he no longer not any good at baseball?

Then who are Jose Bautista, Ty Wigginton, and Kelly Johnson then?
