WASHINGTON -- Rookie sensation Stephen Strasburg has been scratched from his scheduled start for the Washington Nationals against the Atlanta Braves because he was having trouble getting loose in the bullpen.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo says "there's no pain in the arm" and that it was his decision to have the right-handed pitcher sit out Tuesday night's game as a "precautionary move." Rizzo says Strasburg is being examined by a team doctor and his status is day to day.

About a minute before the scheduled beginning of the game, the Nationals said Strasburg would be replaced on the mound by Miguel Batista. When that news was relayed to the crowd at Nationals Park over the loudspeakers, there were some boos from fans.

Now 0/3 after a comebacker to the mound.

He's wearing #13 for the Dodgers.

0/4 2 k's and did not hit a ball out of the outfield. Glad he sucked it up the first game so my facebook status doesn't come back to haunt me.

LOL at the Cardinals giving up 18 runs to the pathetic Houston offense tonight.

wow! The Phillies were down 4-2 in the 9th. Scored 2 runs to tie it, and had a runners on 1st and 3rd with 0 outs and make 3 outs on the basepaths without scoring another run. Runner at 3B going on contact w/ 0 outs and gets into a rundown that doesn't advance the runners. Runner at 2B gets picked off. Runner at 1B gets caught trying to steal 2nd.

Only the Cu...Phillies.

Marlins just get robbed on a ball down the line called foul that never actually went into foul territory at any point, including when it went into the corner.

Holy crap was that a bad call. Ball bounces fair in front of the bag, ball bounces fair behind the bag; I think it's safe to say the ball passed fair over the top of the bag also unless it was a physics defying ball that decided to change directions after going foul around the bag.

Torii Hunter either doesn't know the rules about arguing balls and strikes or he does but is an idiot.

He got tossed in the eighth inning today for saying "That's an effing ball" and then after he got tossed, twice asked "Why did you throw me out".

Rickie Weeks just lead off the game with a inside the park homerun.

I wonder, how many games have had that happen before?

Only the Cubs would give up something like that

Totally.

That was better than your average brawl. The fight ended up against the backstop with (I think) Carpenter being pushed against the netting, with fans inches from them.

What is Carpenter thinking? Can you imagine him getting hurt in a fight?

LaRue got spiked in the face by Cueto. If Phillips is going to trash the Cardinals like that, they need to at least win the series. Carpenter has let his emotions run wild this season.

Cincinnati has a major red-headed stepchild complex going on. Votto runs his mouth about the Cubs, Phillips runs his mouth about the Cards (and Cubs.) Once again, when you're a cellar dweller for the better part of 15 years, routinely are outnumbered in your own park by the opposing fans, and you live in a cowtown like Cincinnati, all you can do is talk [expletive] at that point.

Phillips is a little punk. He got drilled a few weeks ago by the local cops doing 90mph in a residential zone and laughed it off like it was a big joke. I hate little fucks like him. Straighten out your ballcap, [expletive].

Carpenter is a punk. Him showing up Brendan Ryan the other night was a joke.
