The current CBA allows for non-guaranteed contracts, but no one ever offers them (as no one will sign them).

Same with MLB, if you can believe it

You see the problem with non-guaranteed contracts in the NFL. It creates a culture of players wanting as much money right now as they can get, and rightfully so.

I'm glad you added the "rightfully so" part. I've got no problem with the players in the NFL trying to get whatever they can, whenever they can. If they're underpaid, they need to try to get that money right then..because if they're paid well, and underperform, you better believe the owners aren't gonna keep paying them.

isn't Dampier's non-guaranteed, which is why he was traded (balanced the $ exchanged) and waived?

Bulls officially sign Asik.

Is the Korver signing official yet?

Yep. Had a media session today to introduce him and everything.

Just waiting on JJ. I think magic will match.

I don't think they will.

when introducing Quentin Richardson, Magic GM Otis Smith said the decision to keep Redick is more of an "ownership" decision.

This worries me. The owner is like 140 years old and is worth 4 billion dollars. Money is no object for him.

Or Smith might want to bring him back and he can't get approval from the owner. I didn't take too much away from that quote.

Hollinger not a fan of the recent Bobcats-Mavs deal:

I'd like to congratulate Michael Jordan on being the first executive in history to avoid saving money in a salary dump. Tyson Chandler and Alexis Ajinca have one year left at a combined $14.1 million, while Eduardo Najera and Matt Carroll are owed a combined $17.1 million over the next three years. Throw in cash (presumably the maximum allowable $3 million) from Dallas, and they managed to break even while giving away their starting center for two guys who will occupy seats 11 and 12 at the end of the bench. Strike up the band.

For those who haven't heard, Charlotte traded Chandler and Ajinca to Dallas on Tuesday for two of the deadest-weight contracts in the league (Najera and Carroll), cash, and the non-guaranteed contract of Erick Dampier. I still have no idea why.

I really can't think of one move that ever turned out well for MJ as an owner/GM. He just isn't very good at working the front office in basketball.

Concerning Reddick, why sign him when you have a very similar player in Korver? Get Barnes who is a little more athletic and guards the 2's significantly better? I am tired of the Bulls trotting out their 6'3" 2 guards.

I wonder if a player would ever take a risk at trying to negotiate a highly incentive-laden contract that would give them the chance of doubling their salary if they performed up to expectations.

Honestly, MJ doesn't really come off as being that intelligent of a person. Have you ever read his Twitter before? All he talks about is root beer all the time.

From what I've read, the only similarities between Redick and Korver are that they are white and can shoot 3's. First of all Korver is 6'7'' and is primarily a SF. He is more of your 3 point specialist guy. Redick is 6'5'' and is a more traditional SG. He's not overly athletic, and isn't going to be driving to the hole and getting to the FT line or anything, but he'll space the floor for Rose, he is a pretty decent passer, and he can apparently create his own shot around the perimeter.

On defense Korver is awful. One of the worst in the game:

Redick is said to be underrated defensively. Not going to confuse you with Kirk Hinrich, but plays good man to man defense and is still improving. Basically the Magic want to keep Redick because they think he can be their starting SG as soon as next year, pushing Carter to more of a role player. If a 55+ win team is thinking of doing that, he's ok as my SG.

Personally, the player thats available that i want the most at SG is actually Raja Bell.

Are we still talking about Ronnie Brewer? We could use a cheap, defensive stopper on the bench. I don't want to start him though.

BTW, the Bulls got blown out today in their Summer League game. I didn't see any viable players outside of Johnson who looked ok and slimmed down.

Bosh is not very photogenic is he?

I have yet to see LeBron at the center of any pictures. This has to hurt his brand. "The chosen one" - ha! He isn't even the chosen one on his won team.
