So whats the deal with Dirk Nowitski? I read the other day he was going to become a free agent, is it just assumed he's going back to Dallas?

Updating a previous item, the Miami Herald and Associated Press are disputing an ESPN.com report that Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James met in Miami over the weekend.

This is beyond ridiculous. I'll be glad when its over.

I had doubts in the back of my mind that that happened. Stern specifically seemed to quash that idea a month ago...

I take it Ryan hasn't recovered from the NBA Finals.

This is getting to BR levels.

At least these players deserve the coverage unlike Brian Roberts and Jake Peavy.

One thing to remember is that Florida does not have a state income tax. They could take a little less in salary but still wind up with about the same in their pocket.

I know Johnson to the Knicks is a hot rumor now, but if James & Bosh somehow manage to end up in Miami with Wade wouldn't Johnson be happier in Chicago on a much better team?

I don't know the exact details but there is a tread 1-2 pages into the Bulls forum that says that due to out of state taxed when players are on the road, you'd only be saving like 37k by going to Miami because I think a large majority of the income taxes are federal. I'd like the thread for you but I'm in line to take a pic with the Stanley Cup right now (I'm a name dropper). Just go on bulls realgm forum and you'll see the thread within the first 3 pages.

ESPN reported there was a meeting between Bosh, Wade and James over the weekend. ESPN reported James did not commit to playing for the Heat, but that he was intrigued.

Less than 12 hours after that initial report, multiple sources are denying that such a meeting ever took place. Tom Withers, who covers the Cavaliers for the Associated Press, posted to Twitter that, according to a source, LeBron did not meet with Wade and Bosh in Miami.

In addition to Withers' contribution, Jorge Sedano has a post on the Miami Herald that Wade was not in Miami all weekend.

This situation is so fluid, I doubt there is a clear frontrunner. I think ESPN wants their analysts to put a frontrunner just to get people to watch Sportscenter, and follow on their websites. Right now, I think it's up in the air.

I stil really doubt James/Bosh or Wade will take less to play together. I don't know how strong their PA is, but if it is half as strong if not as strong as the MLBPA, I really doubt they will be approving of the three top names of the FA class leaving money on the table. And in the case of James and Bosh they would be leaving even more on the table then Wade would. When all else is said it is money talks and BS walks. And to expect any of the three to take less money to play together is really dreaming. Besides it is too good to happen, so it won't.

Yeah, this is now firmly in the realm of unfounded-rumor-explosion-ville.

I think it's time for me to fall back on the old standby:

I'll know which team Lebron is going to when I see the logo behind him as he stands at the microphone to talk about his new contract.

I heard that Lebron was singing Go Cubs Go in the hotel lobby. He's coming to Chicago man! This is getting hilarious. At least this circus is much better than watching the Cubs right now.

it would be really, really cool if this ended with bad blood between lebron and wade.

vicious, legitimate, hate-filled rivalries are awesome.

Agreed, especially since I really dislike Wade right now.

Broussard was just on ESPN sounding pretty adamant that the meeting between James, Bosh, and Wade really took place and that denials are coming in so there's no taint of tampering.

did they address the news articles that reported days ago that lebron was spotted in NYC on Thursday and again Saturday night and that multiple people reported seeing Wade at the cubs-sox game on saturday and supposdely all week in Chicago? I'm not saying that makes it possible that they flew to Miami on sat morning and made it a point to be spotted in public in other cities later that night. Just wondering if thy actually addressed these reports.

Also conference calls aren't a new technology.

Exactly. People are fooling themselves if they don't think all of these FA's haven't been in contact with each other through phone/text/email/agents etc.

The more I hear of these stupid rumors the less I want any of these ego-money grubbing maniac players playing for Chicago. The modern day athlete is not human.

"Dwyane was here in Chicago over the weekend and did not meet with LeBron and Chris in Miami over the weekend," Thomas -- who represents Wade and Bosh -- told WGN's David Kaplan.

"Have these guys talked about their futures with one another? Absolutely, and I am sure they will talk again. However, this report of a summit over the weekend in Miami involving Dwyane is untrue. He was here in Chicago with his kids and when he left town on Sunday he was not headed back to Miami."
