I don't know why they would want Deng when they already have Turkeyglue on an even worse contract.

I would rather try to sign Boozer or Amare outright than S&T for Bosh.

But if you S&T for Bosh, you could potentially have enough for two max FA. Get Bosh + LeBron or Bosh + Wade to pair up with Rose and Joakim and the Bulls romp for the next five years.

My tentative off season plan:

Sign and Trade a future second rounder and our first rounder for Bosh. We do the sign and trade so that Bosh can get his 6th year and 10.5% raise. Toronto agrees to get some picks. The pick would be nice to keep for some depth, but I have some other ideas anyways.

Sign Ray Allen to a 3 yr/12.4M deal structured as 4/4.2/4.2. If possible make the third year a team option.

Bring over Turkish center Omer Asik to a 4 yr/$7.84M deal starting at $1.75M with max raises. 4th year Player Option.

Sign Brad Miller to the vet minimum.

Fill out roster with minimum contract PG, SG, and SF.

You don't need to send salary back to whatever team you S&T with?

but honestly, what other trade options are out there? bynum? butler? the heat don't even have enough contract for a sign-and-trade.

toronto is gonna get stuck with cap space they won't be able to use.

i'm pretty sure that you don't have to match salaries on sign and trades. they work differently than normal trades. you simply have to have the cap space available.

or so that's what realgm tells me.

We're under the cap, and as long as we stay under the cap, no.

In such a scenario, the trade would generate a $16,568,908 TPE for Toronto, which they could use to acquire players via trade for up to one year, without sending other salary back.

If we were over the cap, we'd still have to follow the +25% rule, which states a team can't take back more than 25% of the outgoing salaries.

Any interest in Mike Miller? He stinks defensively, but he's a guy that can knock down an open jumper. He's a UFA, I believe. I'm kinda torn.

I know he would probably be further down the list for some if not all of you guys, but if things didn't go exactly as planned this offseason, how would you feel about Dirk if he opted out?
Posted

I would love to get Dirk, but I think there's zero chance he leaves Dallas personally. I don't expect Lebron or Wade to leave either, but I think there's a better chance of them moving than Dirk anyway.

With so many teams having cap space and not all that many top flight guys being available, it's really going to be either super-exciting this offseason or VERY scary for the Bulls. Do the Bulls wind up overspending for Lee, Johnson, or Boozer in terms of a max deal, if they can't get one of the big 4? Or can they maybe get one of these guys AND a nice complementary piece as well to go with them?

Nobody's protested yet, so I gotta ask. Is Ray Allen really going to come that cheaply??

I was reading somewhere that some teams were hoping if they build up their team strong enough he could be had for the MLE, although I personally don't believe that to be true.

Ray Allen for three years? He's too old for that. The Bulls desperately need a two guard over 6'3".

I'm hearing rumblings that Bosh doesn't want to go to Chicago. Anyone else hear that?

I'm haven't. Not because I don't want to believe it, it just that RUMORS at this point is nothing more then either wishful thinking by other teams, or pure speculation. For instance, I hear rumors that Houston will be a player for Bosh, even though Chris has said he doesn't want to play at home. Or how about the rumor that Miami has Amare AND Boozer in the bag?

Again, I don't believe anything in the NBA rumor section.

Well I'm not wondering if the rumors are true, just if anyone else heard them.

Believe it or not, Toronto Raptors fans could play a role in the decision-making process of impending unrestricted free agent Chris Bosh.

The all-star forward caught many off guard Friday with the following tweet: "Been wanting to ask. Where should I go next season and why?"

About an hour later, Bosh posted a second message that read: "Ok … Let me rephrase the question. Should I stay or should I go?"

Can Toronto even afford a max contract? I'm sure they have the space, but do they have the money.

Maple Leaf Sports owns the Raptors. They also own the Maple Leafs, the Air Canada Centre, and the Toronto MLS team. They are worth an estimated $1.75 billion USD. Yes I think they can afford a max contract. It's not like Toronto is some tiny podunk town with no fan support.

Are Wade and Rose too similar?

Yes.

Also, winning a title when your two best players are under 6'5 and you have no post scoring other than your <6'5 players driving is something that I don't recall ever happening.

If LeBron or Bosh doesn't happen, and it's not going to, sign someone to a non-max slot (Boozer if you can get him under max) and wait for Carmelo and the lockout.

So apparently Bernstein on the Score yesterday decided to get everybody all worked up and suggest that Phil Jackson could come back to the Bulls and coach.

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2010/04/will-the-zen-master-become-the-bulls-best-rumor-available.html

The rationale being that if he came back to the Bulls, that the likelihood of being able to get Lebron increases massively. Also, Jerry Krause (one of the big problems Jackson had with the Bulls) is gone. I don't think there's any real info backing this, but it's fun to consider.
