Anyone got a list of who's rehabbing at extended spring? Austin Kirk is one, right?

Kirk isn't rehabbing at extended, he's fully healthy and didn't make Peoria's roster.

Chris Carpenter is the biggest name amongst the rehabbers. He pitched 1.2 innings a few days ago. Here is AZ Phil's full lineup from a few days ago (the list doesn't include 1B Matt Spencer who should be ready to go up to Tennessee really soon):

INJURY REHAB (12):

Justin Bristow (unknown)

Chris Carpenter, RHP (shoulder soreness)

Julio Castillo, RHP (unknown)

Angel Guzman, RHP (March 2010 shoulder surgery)

Marcus Hatley, RHP (2009 TJS)

Dylan Johnston, RHP (2009 TJS)

Dong-Yub Kim, OF (unknown)

* Casey Lambert, LHP (2009 TJS)

Toby Matchulat, RHP (broken foot)

Rebel Ridling, 1B (appendectomy)

Melvin Rosa, RHP (unknown)

Adam Spencer, RHP (unknown)

Not a bad list of starting pitchers - 4 of the Cubs top 13 prospects per BA plus the big league squad's best starter last year:

Probable Starters

Iowa: RHP Jay Jackson (1-1, 3.60 ERA, 10 IP, 2 BB, 8 K)

Tennessee: RHP Andrew Cashner (1-0, 4.35 ERA, 10.1 IP, 2 BB, 20 K)

Daytona (game one): RHP Rafael Dolis (0-1, 0.00 ERA, 9 IP, 4 BB, 8 K)

Daytona (game two): RHP Dae-Eun Rhee (0-1, 6.35 ERA, 5.2 IP, 1 BB, 4 K)

Peoria: LHP Ted Lilly (rehab at Iowa: 0-0, 2.25 ERA, 4 IP, 1 BB, 4 K)

b. jackson has a single and bases-clearing triple for daytona so far. dolis has pitched 4 innings and allowed only a solo homer and a walk. he's pretty interesting because his GO/FO ratio was 1.64 last season; in his first 2 games this year his ratio was 2.60 and today he's gotten 9 GO versus only 2 FO.

Brett now 3/4.

7IP 2H 1R 0ER 2BB 5SO 86 pitches for Cashner so far.

that's his final line. very nice outing once again.

jay jax is rolling along - 4 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 3 k, 35 pitches, 31 strikes

on the down side, rhee struggled again... really seems like he has lost something since his surgery.

seriously terrified of losing some of these guys as hendry's last nutshot before he's gone

That seems like an irrational fear.

Tennessee beat Carolina 2-1. The unearned run off of Cashner in the 1st came as a result of a single (one of only two hits he gave up). the runner advancing to second on a hit-and-run, stealing third and then scoring when Chiniros' throw sailed into the outfield. Tennessee tied it up in the 6th when Campana and Castro had back-to-back singles. Wright then hit what looked like a double play ball, but after Castro was forced at second the throw to first went into the dugout, allowing Campana to score. The Smokies then scored the winning run in the 9th when Optiz singled in Guyer. Campana looks like a good bunter; one of his two hits was a bunt single (with two strikes on him) and he nearly had another bunt single later in the game. I thought Cashner looked very good despite having fewer strikeouts than in his previous starts.

Lee stole 4 bases tonight for Peoria. Vitters had ANOTHER walk and a double in the 2nd game for Daytona.

I guess the biggest disappointments for me RIGHT NOW would have to be Rhee and Burke. Hopefully they can get it going soon, although it could take Rhee some time, being his first year back from TJS......

As far as Hendry going out and making stupid trades to try and save his job.......I could see him making a move or two obviously, but mortgaging the farm for immediate return in this situation would come back to haunt him, once he's looking for another job. My guess is the type moves we'll see are basically the equivalent of Hart and Ascanio for Gorz and Grabow. Hendry has his faults for sure, but overpaying in trades isn't one of them, for the most part. Everyone gets burned on occasion obviously, but he certainly hasn't made a habit out of it.
