That is stunningly dumb. Hitting lefties is the only thing Theriot does particularly well!
What forced Piniella's hand was that Theriot is now 1-for-11 against lefties, after going 0-for-4 against Wandy Rodriguez and Tim Byrdak on Sunday.

Theriot has a 22.2% LD% and a .100 BABIP against LHP thus far. He has hit mostly ground balls otherwise, but then again we're talking about TEN AT BATS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU LOU.

my guess is this was just one of Lou's post-game knee-jerk reactions that he doesn't really follow through on. i bet we see that lineup maybe one time, at most (tonight).

Hahaha. Lou just had to do something because of 11 ABs!!

This is absolute nonsense. I think Lou has officially lost his mind.

Are people freaking out because Lou is dropping Theriot in the order?

Not me. I'm only freaking out due to his reasoning for dropping him.

Only against lefties, who Theriot actually hits well. And because of an 11 AB sample size.

Agreed. I'd be more okay if Lou literally said "I felt like changing something"

Well, this is Lou's reasoning for everything he does. And Theriot shouldn't be at the top of the lineup regardless. That being said, it makes very little difference.

It's probably going to last a game or two at the most.

It probably has less to do with it being against left handed pitching, and more about the fact that Theriot has sucked so far this season against everybody.

Then it'd be nice if they moved him down against the pitchers he's always sucked against

people who think wandy rodriguez sucks stopped paying attention about 3 years ago.

I'm not ashamed to say that I don't follow baseball as closely as I have in the past, partly because of the Cubs declining and partly because I don't play fantasy baseball anymore.

I'll say this, Wandy Rodriguez might be one of the least impressive effective pitchers there are. He definitely doesn't pass the "eye-test." Everytime we play him it seems like we miss fastballs, swing at crap all over the place and ground out a whole lot. Anecdotal, worthless, completely goes against my statistically minded self, but these are my impressions. Billy Beane would have fired me years ago.

So [expletive] you Wandy Rodriguez you ugly baby faced horrible person

Also why would I pay close attention to the Astros anyway? They ceased to be interesting after Ed Wade took the helm, shipped off all their worthwhile prospects and signed aging has-been's to ridiculous contracts

OH crap thats pretty much the same story of Jim Hendry

Hunter Pence was a decent prospect.
