He's had essentially the same numbers as Fukudome and Byrd, and Soriano has the same exact average. It's not like Colvin is smoking hot, or that great of a bet to be much better than any of the three. He's still Tyler Colvin.

 

 

So far he has only had half of the chances of the rest. Also, any numbers are suspect due to small sample size. But, based on the numbers Colvin's OBP is over 100 pts higher than Byrd and Soriano. His OPS is over .200 higher than Soriano.

Wanting him to get back to back starts doesn't mean making him an everyday player. Had a solid day yesterday and is showing better than anticipated plate discipline at the very least.

 

I'm still firmly on the Soriano needs to hit for us to succeed bandwagon though
