Same here. Just not a good feeling at all.

No confidence.

yea, i dont feel very good about this one either. hope i'm wrong

Feel better about yourselves, guys? :D

Again, I love being wrong when it comes to instances like these.

But even you had to admit that the feeling heading into OT wasn't a very good one. Glad to be proven wrong tonight.

The only sort of bad feeling I had is that OTs are basically a crapshoot and we might dominate the OT and still lose because of a fluke goal. I wouldn't say that I had a good or a bad feeling about the OT. I can see why you would have though.

Yeah I didn't think they were pulling that one out going to OT. [expletive] Niemi. You could legitimately say he's stolen 2/3 games so far although I think the first game was a little stronger. Bolland takes 3 penalties including a couple of bad ones yet scores on a breakaway and makes a great pass for the game winner. Toews was a man again, what a pass to Sharp.

Kane can be so frustrating sometimes but his postgame interview on CSN made up for it. Hossa is easily one of my favorite players and he's making some outstanding plays on the puck but my god he's gotta put that puck in the net when he's on the doorstep. I'm hoping he just needs to break the seal, get some confidence and then he'll put in a few more.

I wasn't feeling anything but confident with a slight nerves heading into OT. But you, kyle, and dex made it sound like it was automatic the Hawks were going to lose. I knew there was a chance, but I have confidence in the Hawks to get the job done.

no we didn't. we voiced that we didn't feel good about the game, and i'm sure most people watching the game felt the same way we did after the way the 3rd unfolded.

not trying to ruin the mood, but please stop acting like you are the only one with confidence in this team. it seems like half your posts in this thread are after the game saying "i knew we'd win, you guys dont back them like i do" etc.

I'm not sure why most people would not feel good about the game going into OT. I guess I could come up with a couple different theories:

-The refs looked to be horribly favoring the Sharks

-The Sharks outshot the Hawks 18-6 in the 3rd and started to outplay them a bit

-The Hawks were 4 minutes from victory when the Sharks seized momentum and tied it up

But despite this, as you like to say Dex, I felt like the OT was going to be a crapshoot anyways, so I had neither bad nor good feelings.

Bah, as I type this I realize it's stupid to discuss how we felt during the game. All that matters is how we feel after the game, which for me is pretty damn good :)

Question: I've seen multiple people (reporters, fans, and Sharks players) say that the Sharks dominated the OT period. I felt like the Hawks very slightly controlled the OT. Am I just blind? We outshot them like 10-5 and I felt like we had some of the better chances.

in the postgame press conference, Q was saying that also. i was kind of surprised. i thought they outplayed the sharks in overtime.

i don't really buy into game-to-game momentum, but i do think it's important in-game.... and it felt like the sharks had all of it. they outplayed us in the 3rd (althought not nearly as badly as that 18-6 shot differential indicates), and it seemed like the life was sucked out of the stadium after they tied it.

i mean, i wasn't completely down on them or anything. obviously it was still a toss up and each team had an equal chance of winning. i just didn't like the way the game felt at that point. felt like the ice was tilted to san jose.

was i the only one who didn't know that buff's shot went in immediately? i thought it hit the crossbar or was shot high, then all of a sudden i see them celebrating. the announcer wasn't sure at first either.

yeah, the announcer didn't know it went in and neither did the guy operating the horn. also check out dunc getting mangled in the mosh pit at 1:19

didn't realize until just now had bad the sharks messed up on that. there were 4 sharks around the net and bolland was the only one who knew that buff was there. just a complete breakdown by san jose.

great keep from campbell too

that was one of the worst defensive plays i have ever seen and nabokov looked like he had never seen a pass come out from behind the net before. murray made no play at the puck, boyle missed him completely, the forwards just released him...awful. how you let that happen in OT is just mystifying.

i really don't like saying the word "choke" because it diminishes the way the other team played, but man it's hard to come up with anything else for the way the sharks are playing. it's like they just can't get it out of their heads that they're supposed to be bad in this moment, even with the "exorcism" they performed on themselves against detroit. the hawks have played great, no question. good enough to be winning the series at the very least. however, at times, the sharks have kept up or even outclassed them. why they can't string it together for the majority of a game suddenly is just baffling. how can you have such critical mental lapses in such huge moments? just terrible.

btw, i'll keep picking against chicago in the finals. congrats on the cup.

dex, calm down, my friend. The Hawks won and yet you seem to want to take the fun out it. Grab a beer, get some sleep and find some optimism when you wake up in the morning.

Dex already said it, but I definitely didn't mean it to sound like it was going to be 'automatic' that we were going to lose. We gave up the tying goal with 4:30 left and San Jose was basically outclassing us that entire period. Yes, the penalties helped that out but I got the feeling from all of those penalties that the refs weren't going to help us out at all. That's another major reason why I wasn't confident at all.

It's all for naught. I saw the game-winner again and Buff shot it so quick that the person in charge of the spotlight wasn't really ready for it. That guy is usually on his game so I can't really get on that announcer for taking a few seconds to realize that the puck actually did go in the net. It's going to be nice to have Emrick and Eddie call the game on Sunday, though. That analyst was extremely annoying tonight.

I'm cool, and I definately didn't mean anything by what I said, just wish we save the gloom and doom for the Cubs board.

your last line tells me that you didn't even read my whole post.

nobody here is lacking the correct amount of optimism, yet you keep acting like you're the only one who believes in this team. like i said, not upet or anything... just pointing it out.

Pointing out that one team has the momentum and is currently carrying play = doom and gloom? Just because the scope of your hockey analysis only consists of "They're the Hawks, they'll win" doesn't mean the rest of us aren't allowed to share our unbiased in-game feelings about how the game is going.

Nobody was being unreasonably negative, at all.

RedFlash thinks we're winning the Cup, signing Lebron and Bosh, and that Cutler is going to go for a 70% completion rate, 5,000 yards passing, and about 45 TDs on top of winning the Lombardi Trophy.

And of course we're talking a minimum 8 peat by Bama football.

To me the Hawks looked outplayed last night, especially in the 3rd period.

That's an amazing win. They were definitely a different team in OT, controlling much more of the action and getting shots...

Niemi just denied the Sharks when it looked like they would surely take the game. He denied them AGAIN.

Also, don't know where this version of Buff came from but I like it.

Side note, the UC sounded a lot louder on the TSN highlights than it did on Versus.

I've thought really both Versus and CSN have sounded pretty quiet...

I was pissed they didn't show the anthem last night.

Yeah, I thought the Sharks outplayed the Hawks last night, however slightly. Niemi amazing again, I didn't know he had this level of play in him. This has been a great, competitive series -- can't believe it's 3-0 right now.

As a Cub fan, I have to admit to being slightly concerned as my confidence level in this team is so high right now.

Asked afterward if he was in "the zone,'' Niemi smiled.

"Whatever they call it here, yeah, I'm in it,'' the Finnish sensation said.

I'm totally doom and gloom. All the experiences I have with my teams being in fantastic postseason position end with doom and gloom, so what else would I be? :) 3-1 in the NLCS! 11-point lead in the Super Bowl! Best team in baseball!

The Sharks forwards completely wet the bed on that final play, but that's what makes the Blackhawks the best team in the NHL, and why a lot of other great teams' fans underestimate them: Chicago's forwards are both offensively skilled and extremely defensively responsible. The defense of our forwards is this team's X factor, what puts them over the top.

Toews, Hossa, Sharp, Bolland, Madden, Ladd, that's two guys on every non-checking line that are elite or near-elite defensive forwards. And I wouldn't consider the other three guys to be defensive liabilities.

They are the reason we've played 3 games against the San Jose Sharks and allowed just 2 even-strength goals.
