fun fact, lefties hit .178 against mitch stetter in 2009, and he hasn't pitched yet in this game... yet latroy hawkins was left in to face colvin, theriot and fukudome, two of whom bat lefthanded. just a bang-up job by ken macha.

Jesus. that's Dustyesque.

And LaTroy threw 39 pitches. Hahaha.

Not available for tomorrow :(

Hoffman, Parra, and Villanueva will still be :good:

I'm thinking Macha new Lee was on the bench.

then lee with his effed up thumb would've had to hit and then take the field, since either of the lefties he would be hitting for would be out of the game and nady would have to shift to OF. i'd rather do that then let a guy who's crapping the bed stay in the game longer.

I can't see this game but it looks like Theriot has continued to pick up steam and Soto not only showed power but continued to show very good patience (2 BB's).

Even that first AB looked good. He smashed a rocket, but unfortunately just right at the SS.

It's just one game, but I'm getting 2008 vibes here. Not just because we came back but how we came back.

The pen is still a big worry but there is time to work on that.

Struck out the side!! I LOVE IT!

NOW WIN TONIGHT BULLS!

A Bobcats team with nothing to play for beating a desperate Bulls team and Suppan throwing a 2 hit shutout are preordained.

It almost seems like an obvious situation where the other guy wasn't available. There was nobody warming up, right?

My worry with the pen still remains Lou. I know I won't let that drop, but I'll bet you everything that Gray is already in the stupid "doghouse," nevermind it was his debut and in a high leverage situation. He's a guy that can really help this bullpen and he needs to be used (same with Caridad when he comes back).

Okay, serious question.

When we have 'good Marmol' where would you rank his stuff in all of baseball?

Top 5? It's unhittable if he's around the zone

Has to be. 96MPH fastball with movement and an absolutely unhittable slider.

Theres really no point in swinging at his slider. Either

A. Its well out of the zone

B. Its in the zone, and your not going to hit it anyway.

I feel stupid for not saying it before the season:

I definitely felt like Marmol would be less wild in the closer role.

My worry is more with the starting rotation, which is going to throw 6+ with 100+ every single time out.

That too. It's a critical part of how bad Lou is at managing a bullpen. He deals with the bullpen seemingly how the most over-reactionary fan would.

Theriot must have been inspired by that lovely sign the cat lady had.

At work, no TV or radio, haven't been following. What lovely sign? Who's the cat lady?

Comments from bf.net (sorry guys you do it with our forum when you get the upper hand):

Holy crap, Is Hawkins capable of NOT throwing the ball RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE when he's got two strikes on a guy?

Bring back Yost.

Don't panic...just get a couple guys on base for Zaun

Ha. At this point leaving him in is funny. Let's see how high we can run up his pitch count.
