You guys ruined my mojo

I don't think a random collection of Cubs fans on an internet forum have the ability to affect Cubs games by posting or not posting pictures of the Duke men's basketball team.

They don't?

"anytime the reds beat the cubs its a good night in cincinattie" I really hate their fans....and Bengal fans are just as bad. I guess they are just bitter about living in such [expletive] city like Cincy.

Why does every NL Central team perenially see the Cubs as their arch rival? Pound for pound, the Cards have been the most successful team in the division.

The same reason that in every other sport in the universe, the teams that have historically won are the most hated teams, and yet it seems everywhere I look there's another fan that hates the Cubs, the poster child for NOT winning.

Basically, it makes no damn sense.

Came in to this thread to see the reaction when Silva was pulled and ran into this. I laughed.

I looked at the Brewers/Cards score earlier, and it was 4-1 Milwaukee, and I just knew the Cards were going to win. It's been that kind of night. And sure enough, some no-talent ass-clown named Nick Stavinoha just hit a pinch-hit 2-run homer in the 9th to put STL ahead 5-4.

This is why none of this bother me anymore. Anyone who watches our franchise has to know we are never gonna win it all. Just enjoy it for a good 3 hours of entertainment.

Yes, yes he did. He has the resemblance to Aaron Miles, earning the nick name Fat Miles. Luckily, Harang's pitching tomorrow, so the Cubs should get a win.

Heres the answer to why Silva was taken out, and well, we still don't know why.

Silva pitched six innings of one-run, three hit ball, leaving with a 3-1 lead. He threw only 71 pitches and retired 11 of the last 12 hitters he faced. But Piniella pulled him in the seventh, reasoning that Silva's shoulder had stiffened up.

Silva said he felt fine.

"I was ready to go out (for the seventh)," Silva said. "They take me out."

Unfortunately the Cubs are playing tomorrow, so they will get a loss.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Here's the comparison of Fat Miles to Miles:

cardinals win on a down-to-their-last-strike home run by a scrub; cubs lose a game where they had 13 LOB and the opponent had 2. pretty typical for the fortunes of these organizations.

The Cardinals have magically had an offense so far. Fat Miles(Stavinoha) was brought in for PH purposes, which is what he did.

The thing that pissed me off the most was that Lou double-switched Berg into the game. Berg had a 1-2-3 inning on just seven pitches. The pitcher's spot doesn't come up in the top of the 8th because of the double switch. Sure enough, Lou pulls an effective Berg for Caridad and the rest is history.

Some of the guys on offense, namely Theriot and Soriano, need to get it in gear.

In all fairness, Stavinoa (sp?) is a good bench man, subject to hit one at any given moment, as he is AN OX! Last year he hit a big one and LaRussa sent him down the next day.

Look for him to be gone by Sunday. :-))

Whichever mod edited the pics did the aesthetically correct thing, but messing with the thread that won yesterday? Bad juju.

I would like to quote this post because I want everyone to read it.

DO NOT MESS WITH DUKE!

I don't see, under any circumstances, either of these players doing anything useful this year.

Probably not.

It's frustrating to spoil two great starts from Dempster and Silva due to the bullpen and a poor offensive output.
