Also, Hoffpauir, and Fuld were optioned to AAA. Chris Robinson was assigned to minor league camp.

We could have used a few more days of chemical improvement, why so soon? Why?

Especially since the Cardinals get someone all year long to help them chemically improve.

Thank the lord and sunny Jesus.

Even a month more of the media fellatio on this guy would have been intolerable.

Kudos to the front office.

BTW, I think it's funny that the Cubs deserve kudos for not keeping the person who was obviously such a worse choice because we all figured they would botch it.

i don't know if the parsing of a sentence means anything, but the bottom line on mlb network said that the cubs granted kevin millar his release instead of simply the cubs released kevin millar. i get the impression millar asked for his release.

I've frequently seen releases worded that way. I don't think it necessarily means that Millar asked to be released.

Unless they were trying to get him to go to AAA? Wouldn't that make sense as a reason other than polite phrasing? I'm not clear on how he arrived in camp - minor league deal, invitee? Once I heard he would be there I did well to ignore it.

He probably signed the minor league deal with the condition that they wouldn't force him to play in AAA.
I think that's fairly common with minor league contracts, to give the player an opportunity to catch on with another team. Other times the terms of the contract allow the team to send the player down, but either call him up or release him by a specified date.

I can't wait for the inevitable article when the Cubs are 6 games out of first place in the summer, detailing how the Cubs would have been a competitor if only they had Kevin Millar on the roster. Odds are, Phil Rogers will be the one to write it.

Good. I was getting tired of hearing how much Millar is going to help this club......OFF the field.

If he can't catch on with another team I wouldn't mind him getting a non playing job with the organization. Maybe the guy who is in charge of keeping Z in a good mood and not killing people. Or Gatorade dispensers.
