That shot going in would have to have been the biggest NCAA shot of all time, right?

Absolutely.

Maybe biggest play in the history of sports.

I seriously wonder what would've happened if that shot went in. Would the world have just ended?

Perhaps Jim Nantz would have raised his voice with a slight amount of excitement.

So the world definitely would've ended then.

I like to think that K would've just turned to dust, having being vanquished by that all that is pure and good in this world.

That would have been the greatest ending in the history of any of the major sports, period. Man, you talk about almosts. Hayward will be replaying that for the rest of his life. He couldn't have done any better for a shot in 3.6 seconds.

Is that the biggest "almost" since the Titans/Rams Super Bowl?

I would have enjoyed seeing which high-functioning autistic face that Scheyer would have come up with.

Bigger. That "only" would've sent the game into OT (assuming the Titans went for the PAT).

I'm thinking...there's never been a moment like that in the history of American sports. Chalmers making the 3 against Memphis was just as do or die but it was only to tie the game and it wasn't a half court buzzer beater.

The Ice Bowl comes to mind.

I'll take the Titans-Rams play.

Also in the top ten is probably the Music City Miracle from those same playoffs.

And Joe Carter's home run was only Game 6 and Mazeroski's, though it was a Game 7, was in a tie game not with the Pirates down.

The N.C. State layup in 1983 came in a tie game as well.

Man, if Howard hits his 3 or 4 layups he missed at the beginning of the game, Butler probably wins this game. [expletive] Teddy Valentine, and the NCAA for continuing to let him ref big games year in and year out. Butler has 4 of 5 starters returning next year, preseason #1?

Vince Young against USC in the 2005 National Title game probably ranks up there also since that play was on a fourth down, though there was still a little time on the clock and he could have picked up a first down.

Jordan's shot against Utah, although it was game 6.

Yeah but that was a QB sneak.

If you combine the Flutie Hail Mary with the stakes of the Ice Bowl then you'd have something equivalent to that shot if it had went in (ignoring that football is much more popular than college hoops).

jereme richmond hit a similar shot to win the super-sectionals in 09, down one and just swished it, no bank.

True. There isn't much that would have topped that if it had gone in.

You mean where he fouled and the shot shouldn't have counted?

 But it did count

Ugh. No Kramer lay-up and the only time anything Purdue was shown was Grant and Singler being face to face. For a Sweet Sixteen team that almost no one picked I'm a bit disappointed.

Jordan Crawford and Jimmer Fredette were bigger snubs IMO. How Crawford's 40-footer isn't in there is a little confusing.
