I love the tournament. This is awesome.

Granted the first round is only 2/5's over but I can't remember a better tourney. I don't think that is just getting caught up in the moment either.

Yeah, I'm strongly considering calling in sick tomorrow.

I got class 9-12 (ct) I am thinking about "not feeling well" around 10:45-11 to get back in time for games to start.

Meanwhile, Montana is down by one.

If they win, there won't be any way to compare this day to another tournament day

The only crazy think I can think of to compare it to is George Mason's run.

that's unlikely to ever be matched. Beating 3 past champions in a row as a double-digit seed? No way

George Mason's run was over the course of many days (weeks if you count off days). He made it singular by saying day.

Wasn't sure if you got the clarification. Let's not overreact.

So I will end up 10/16 with Vandy and Richmond being Sweet Sixteen teams gone already. Not a good start.

My Pomeroy bracket will be 12/16 with Georgetown and Marquette gone already.

What in the hell was that?!

Yeah. I know you want to score quickly, but the important thing is to just get the points. If you don't score, it doesn't really matter how quickly you get the shot up.

I'm 13 and 3. Had two sweet 16 teams knocked out though. My three losses were Texas, Notre Dame and Georgetown so I'm essentially a couple of points and a weird game away from a perfect day.

While I'd love for tomorrow to be just as awesome as today, I'd settle for Gus Johnson getting to call two close games. That's all I really want - just so Gus doesn't have to watch four blowouts.

I will feel a lot better if my two picks to get to the title game - Ohio State and West Virginia - throttle their opponents tomorrow.

Outside of Clemson - Missouri Gus is calling some pretty terrible games.

Gonzaga-Florida State could be close, but yeah, I wish they wouldn't stick him with a 1-16 matchup. That's just a throwaway game.

Also, one more thing.

UCSB over Ohio State in the upset of the tournament.

Go Gauchos.

I'm all about the upsets making a fun tournament.... but it's starting to seem like a bad seeding job more than anything.

Marquette and ND's seeds were both ridiculous (I was saying that before they lost). I don't think the other upsets really reflect on the seeds.

Marquette and ND being overseeded actually helps them. If they were both properly seeded at, say, 7 or 8, then they would get an even harder first round opponent.

Well, I would much rather play a team like Florida in a 7/10 game then play the kind of small conference winners that are normally seeded 11. Generally the mid-majors that rise that high are pretty legitimate teams that are hungry, whereas the at-larges in that area are what they are and are highly unlikely to deliver a big-time performance.

Obviously the way they played today they'd have lost to probably most anyone, but, in my totally uninformed opinion, it seems like the double-digit at-larges enjoy much less success than the 10-12 seeded small-conference winners.

What a freakin awesome day.

I also don't want to rip of the Big East yet. The Big 10 has all 5 teams to go with every game besides Ohio State's should be good.

I ended up going 11-5 on the first day. Not great but not bad.

I had Washington and Murray State. I also had Texas. For some reason I have Nova in the Final 4. I only have lost 1 sweet 16 team in UTEP. (What in the world was I thinking?).

UTEP was actually a perfectly reasonable pick - they matched up well physically with Butler and Vanderbilt never seems to live up to their seed (or in your case, you had Murray State). Butler just caught fire in the second half - luckily for me since I had Butler advancing out of that pod.

And I want to be hopeful for the Big East myself, but Georgetown and ND were two of the teams I was relatively confident would deliver good performances and both tossed up stinkers. I doubt we can glean much tomorrow because of the 4 teams playing, three are 3 seeds or above, so unless someone pulls an Ohio from long-range they will all win easily.
