With Wes, his Chicago contacts and the proximity and Iowa being a Nike school, he would be able to recruit really well. He also would probably underachieve in most years.

 

Craig Robinson would be able to recruit here and might be willing to move but having an even slower coach than Lickliter might not be ideal.

If I had my way I would love Gillispie. I'm kind of on the fence about Pearl (after thinking about it the last few days) but neither of those are going to happen anyways so it wouldn't matter.

Boy, I sure missed the boat on the coach reference who's very good at coaching but, poor at recruiting, etc. Although, if one checks out Illini Scout and sometimes here, the situation did somewhat describe Weber at U of I.

 

Why would Turner stay? Despite what he said about loving OSU, he's, at the very least, the no. 2 pick (behind Wall), maybe no. 1 on plenty of teams draft boards.

 

By the way, why is that U of I, while quite probably being clean, is on the NCAA' watch dog list, yet programs that cheat their collective b*lls off are not? Say programs like Kentucky, OSU (football)...

 

Because we were so good at cheating we kept records of it. We are defined by the slush fund scandal of the 60's, and Mike White's "questionable" tactics in recruiting Southern California junior college players in the 80's. We have cheated and cheated big and gotten caught twice. That's why the NCAA gave it to us in the Pearl fiasco, even though there was little evidence to prove anything was wrong with Thomas' recruitment. Instead they slapped us with lack of institutional control and threw the book at us. This is who we are to the NCAA, and it is who we will forever be. KY basketball and OSU football make a ton of money, so the NCAA is always easy on its sacred cows, because they are in the business of profiting off of students. /end rant

A full season of LewJack's 20 points/game, what do you expect?

KSU loses Clemente, but our Freshmen (McGruder, N. Russell, Irving) are all soph guards and should be able to pick up the slack collectively as a group. Pullen will be better as a Senior. Judge will be greatly improved as a soph, as will Curtis Kelly as a Sr. Samuels will be a junior, Sutton a Sr. Adding 7'0 285 lb freshman of the year at Florida Atlantic who averaged 13.5 pts and over 9 boards a game. Dare I say KSU will be BETTER next year than we were this year. We'll be a different team and will dominate the post. I predict winning the Big 12 after KU loses Henry, Cole, and Sheron.

I don't think so. He's not looked at as being a first round pick from what I've read, as he didn't play PG this year and doesn't have the size to be a SG in the NBA. He's basically in the same position that Sheron was in last year and will come back for his Sr. season. That and his mother is big time in his life, and wants him to stay to get his degree. He's also very close to Frank, and I can't see him leaving him after this year.

I have no idea what to think about Texas next year. I don't think Avery Bradley leaves but I could be wrong. Jordan Hamilton should be back too and Tristen Thompson is coming in, but losing James, Pittman, and Gary Johnson will hurt. Plus Barnes can't coach with having a true PG. The top two recruits he has in 2010 and 2011 are both Canadian, wtf is that about.

I'm not in anyway jealous of your program. I got to experience the thrill of going to a National Title Game while almost going undefeated along the way. I got to see our program produce a top pro in my lifetime. I was proud of you though for being able to finish above us this year.

What's there to be jealous of at Purdue. Painter is living off of the 07 class, and I've yet to see a kid who can play at that sort of level come in behind them. The lone exception being Teon Johnson. Great job reaching on Jay Simpson. Enjoy your three year run of relevance in the Big Ten.
