Purdue is losing Kramer and Grant, and adding two four star guards (that can score) to replace them. They're getting Hummel and (6' 10") Sandi Marcius back from injury. They're also adding a three star C (6' 9") and PF (6' 8"). They'll have six guys at 6' 8" or bigger on the roster, and size was their weakness this year. Why does everyone think they're going to drop back to the 4/5 range? Not arguing it won't happen, I'm just curious.

I think there is a good chance that at least one of Johnson or Moore go pro. I also think that Hummel won't be as good after his second major injury in as many years. I still think you will be a really good team though.

Johnson would be crippling, I would much rather loose Moore. If we lost both of those guys I could see us in the bottom half, next year.

Doesn't Johnson come from a dirt poor family? Isn't it entirely plausible that after this year the NBA changes the way it does it's rookie salaries, thus making it very important to declare now before the rookie pay scale is cut by two thirds? Doesn't Painter and the rest of this kid's people tell him he needs to jump at the chance to get paid? He has to at least declare, imo.

I don't see what Johnson and Moore have to lose by declaring. They should go and see where they stand, especially with college basketball as bad as it has been this year. I think D Mac will be back, but I could see him testing the waters for this reason.

Missing the tourny might help keep DMac around. He's Deron Williams lite. I think he would have really turned heads on the national stage.

So do we start a "coaching changes" thread or just post it in here? Usually the next year's threads aren't started until after the season is finished but I guess Tim thinks he can whatever he wants around here.

Iowa needs to hit a home run if they want to make it to the tournament any time soon. The Big Ten is loaded with coaching talent now, they can't settle

Scott Drew is a name that came to mind for me. If they go after Pearl it's going to get ugly.

Scott Drew had a lot of whispers about him among Big 12 coaches IIRC.

Iowa needs a recruiter. If you can make Baylor relevant after the Dave Bliss situation, than Iowa has to take a look at him. He's young, makes less than half a million according to wikipedia, and has recruited well to Baylor.

It will be interesting to see who they can attract. The last 3 years have been awful but you could make the case that the job is better now. They can pay more ($2M and have heard they can go to $2.5, possibly higher for Pearl) have already begun construction on a $40M practice facility and renovation of CHA.

Scott Drew sounds shady with recruiting so they'll probably stay away but he's the kind of guy they need. Pearl is obviously #1 and I know he's willing to listen but I doubt they can make it happen. What about Buzz Williams at Marquette? That's obviously a better job but I've heard he's making like $600,000. Don't know if that's accurate but if so, Iowa could triple it.

Tony Barbee would be at the top of my mid-major list. Fran McCafferey and Greg Marshall are interesting. I've heard Brian Gregory at Dayton would be interested but they struggled at the end of the year and underachieved.

Why would they stay away from scumbag Drew but be ok with scumbag Pearl?

Bite your tongue.

Why it is the absolute truth. The guy is a grade A clown.

Mrs. Pearl agrees. Well the ex Mrs. Pearl anyways.

Absolute truth based on all of the sanctions and probation he's earned, right?

He got his sanctions. Why do you think he was stuck at d3 for so long?

Delany wouldn't allow it I'm sure.

I heard it when the IU job was open and that fat greasy pig was interested(or at least interested in using it for a raise) I'm sure he'll change his mind when dealing with a powerhouse program like Iowa. When Iowa speaks, people listen.

Heard it from only the best sources I'm sure.

That whole train of thought went out the window when he allowed a coach who just got his old school heavy sanctions to be hired at IU.

Scott Drew is a total slimeball.

A-freaking-men

I worry about him leaving Baylor. If they get a real coach in there with all that talent, they could really be dangerous. I just hope he leaves as BU is getting the NCAA hammer dropped on them.

The flaw in this logic though is Indiana is Indiana and they had Miles Brand to protect them.
