KU currently has 1 commit for next year(a 4 star PG), and could quite easily lose 140+ min/game of production, leaving Taylor and Robinson as their best players. They won't suck either way, but if Selby and the Morii go pro, they aren't going to be competing for a 1 seed.

We'll have bad years just like everyone else. We had them in the late 90s when ISU was rolling us. We were a six seed in '99 and an 8 seed in 2000.

This year's class looks like ass so far, but there's a good chance we grab 5* SF Deandre Daniels. We're also still in the mix for 5* Ben McLemore and 4* C/PF Angelo Chol. If we can grab 2/3 of those guys, we'll be ok.

Self always cleans up after coaching changes at other spots as well. He will ge the horses there.

Another big man most likely gone for KSU. Hell of a season guys... pathetic. Bye bye Curtis Kelly. Shouldn't be caught getting high for the 3rd time this year. You know you have to pee in a cup.

Fun with Pomeroy: Going strictly off his rankings, the tourney field features:

USC as a 12-11 at-large while a 16-7 UCLA gets left out.

No Butler, no Gonzaga.

Belmont as a 9 seed.

10 Big East teams, but no 1 seeds, and only 2 top 3s

8 loss Illinois a 4 seed. 4 loss Notre Dame a 6 seed (Same as 5 loss George Mason)

Northwestern in the tournament.

Well, it was ugly, but Purdue took care of business last night. Hulls is a scrappy little [expletive].

IU will win the rematch in Bloomington. :P

That honestly wouldn't shock me.

Me either.

As a side note, can someone please teach D.J. Byrd how to effectively pass the ball? I've never seen a crisp pass from him, and I don't believe I've ever seen him use a bounce pass. I think he's definitely improved as a player, but that's one part of his game that is horribly bad.

I've actually been impressed with his passing this year. He has as many assists per game as Barlow, and he doesn't run point (obviously). I was actually surprised to see this assessment on him. I think there's plenty of ways he could improve his game, but passing wouldn't rank high on my list.

He's been saved by Johnson several times on passes that are very tough to corral. However, it oftentimes doesn't leave him in a good position to shoot. And I'm not necessarily talking about having to air it over a defender to get it to him but rather when JaJuan has good position. I've seen several passes to him from Byrd that are way too high or cause Johnson to reach quite a bit to catch it.

I'm a little concerned that Ryne disapeared. He had a four game outburst to start the Big Ten schedule but has only broken double digits once since then. Teams figured out he could shoot and he's essentially been smothered since then. Apparently with ease though. Its not like other guys are getting wide open looks because of him.

Also, props to Bade for looking like a different player recently. He's no star and he's not going to turn into one, but he's a useful role player lately and I never thought that would happen. I cheered louder for that little jump shot he made than any other basket all night.

Yeah, teams simply aren't letting him get many open looks. And on the rare occasion he does get one, he's not hitting the shots with the same frequency (not that anyone expected him to keep shooting 60% from behind the arc). I'm a bit concerned that Hart isn't getting more minutes since coming back. If teams are going to key on Smith, change it up a little bit. I'm not saying to take Ryne completely out of the mix, but let Hart see if he can make something happen. Between Smith, Byrd, and Hart, one of them should be able to knock down a few shots in any given game.

Agreed on Bade. He's looked good in the past few games, especially with his rebounding.

Of course, the broadcasters last night had to mention how good this team would be if Scott Martin had not left. That hurt a little bit.

I heard the issue with Hart was that Painter wasn't happy with his D. Tough to say, but Painter certainly goes through favorite streaks when it comes to the bench guys. When is the last time you saw Marcius? Carroll got a start or two and then I don't think he even played yesterday?

It's not like Smith is Chris Kramer defensively though. I don't think you lose a ton defensively if you replace Smith with Hart.

Marcius is a lot more raw than I had anticipated. He's not a bad rebounder, but he still really has no clue where to be on the floor most of the time. And you're right about Carroll. His playing time has gone down significantly. Maybe Painter is seeing if Bade can fill those minutes more effectively.

Somehow, SIU beat Wichita State last night at Wichita. I think it's safe to say that Wichita's on the outside looking in after that horrible loss to us.

Basically. If we could somehow win out in conference, win against VCU at home and get to the tourney championship, then we might have a 50/50 chance at an at-large, because of a weak at-large field this year. However, last night really sucked but I think WSU has a great chance to win the conference tourney for the first time in my life, because they are built to last in a 3 games in 3 days format.

I wish Iowa was playing anyone other than Wisconsin tonight. They've been playing well, gaining confidence, gaining interest and it would be nice to keep it going. Unfortunately Wisconsin is pretty much the worst matchup in the conference for Iowa.

On the bright side Wisconsin hasn't played that well on the road so hopefully we can at least keep it tight.

I agree with this. Wisconsin's disciplined defense and possession first basketball is going to give us fits. We're young and Cartwright forces some dumb passes so I could see us forcing a lot of turnover trying to do something stupid against Wisconsin's defense and I could see them picking our defense apart.

That being said, we played pretty well against UNI. Not that UNI is as good as Wisconsin but we've played a team somewhat similar and we played pretty well.

I can see Iowa winning tonight but I'm not betting on it. I think they beat Minnesota on Sunday though.

I really hate Bo Ryan and his stupid badger face.

Maybe it's from having Lickliter for the last 3 years, but I HATE this style of basketball. I'm not sure I'd like it even if the Hawks won 25 games per year. This slow pace drives me up a wall.

It's fun now that Iowa looks like a Big Ten team. Granted they are still a bottom half of the conference Big Ten team but they still look like they somewhat belong in this league. If they can hold on it would be huge.
