Tomorrow is a must [expletive] win. I don't want 5 non-conference losses like last year. It's time to step up and pound a God-awful Maryland team. Can't believe I waited 3 God damn years for this.

 

Oh, and Meyers Leonard, welcome to Division I basketball. You got abused tonight.

If we have 5 losses before conference again then I think we have a new coach next year. There is too much talent for us not to be in the tournament.

 

there's no way we have a new coach next year, no way. we aren't going to have 5 non-conference losses, either.

Yeah, is someone really implying that Illinois is going to go 0-for power conferences in their non-con, with none of them being a true road game? I mean, none of them seem to be surefire wins, but odds are real low that they don't get any.

Tisdale and Davis are still very weak down low. They were abused by the Texas bigs all throughout that game.

 

They need to move their feet on defense. Both of them were relying too much on their length on the defensive end. I'd also like to see Tisdale and McCamey run a little more pick and roll like last year and spread out the floor.

 

And Davis is so soft. There was a play in the second half where he had the ball on the sideline with an open lane to the basket. Instead of attacking the rim like he should have, he did his weak ass, pull up jumper and didn't convert on the And 1. It's maddening to see Davis continuing to be passive on the offensive end. If he doesn't start utilizing his length and athleticism, then Weber will have no choice but to play Richmond over Davis.

Another thing - why was Paul bringing the ball up the court so much? Illinois should be like the Bulls in terms of offense. The ball should be in McCamey's hands at least 75% of the time.

Illinois just cannot finish out games right now. They play too tentative with the lead and succumb too easily to pressure and the other team's desperation.

Cole should never have been dribbling away from the basket on that last possession. Just take the easy basket there.

that was almost a disaster.

Under Weber we have always struggled closing teams out. I wish he would keep running the offense. Too many times we revert to just running clock and then taking poor shots. With the talent we have now, we need to just keep scoring.
