i absolutely cannot believe that calipari would know anything about this, and i'm sure that he doesn't. it's simply a gigantic coincidence that this keeps happening.

the ncaa made him this way PEOPLE!

Is this directed towards me? If it is, then I have very reasonably argued that this is, more or less, true.

no you haven't

So Calipari is at fault for some kid violating Alabama state athletic laws? Or Camby taking money from agents? Or Derrick Rose having someone else take his SATs for him in high school?

You really can't be this naive.

I really don't think Calipari has any knowledge of Bledsoe's issues. I doubt he had any knowledge of Campby or Rose either- at least, no more knowledge than most people had.

But by the same token, it's not just "dumb luck" that things like this follow him. Calipari recruits kids who other folks are afraid to touch for LOTS of reasons. he takes chances on kids who other schools are willing to take risks on. Most of them pan out perfectly. Once in a while, they don't (2- now maybe 3- recruits out of 18 seasons' worth of basketball). .

So while I think it's clear why he and his staff haven't been implicated in these problems, it IS their fault that they keep following him because he CHOOSES to recruit kids with all sorts of shady characters hanging all over them and all sorts of rumor and innuendo following them.

By the way- he didn't leave UMass on probation...UMass was never found guilty of or charged with a single NCAA violation.

This is awesome. Yeah, I am sure that there is no way that Cal knew what was going on with Marcus Camby. How the hell else was he able to land a top 10 kid at UMass? As for Rose, a lot of us knew by his junior year that he might not qualify. That's why many, not me, but many Illinois fans didn't think he was worth the risk. Remember he also had Reggie with his hand out as well. Face it, Cal is dirty as all hell.

kentucky has chosen to follow the path of winning at any cost, there's nothing wrong or shameful about that.

oh wait, there totally is. maybe they feel that they're removed enough from the eddie sutton years and the death penalty that was hanging over their heads? maybe they feel that nobody remembers so it's okay to go back and do the same thing?

kentucky may soon be in a worse place than indiana basketball.

On 810 radio station they are making it sound like this KU investigation could get pretty ugly. UK isn't the only one. Edited by illiniguy

They made that choice like 50 years ago.

I don't blame Eddie Sutton for the money in the envelope, he just sent the envelope. How was he supposed to know there was a crap ton of money in it going to a recruit?

that's wishful thinking on your part. The scandal is about employees ripping off the athletic department and, potentially, donors. there's a chance it could affect the staffing within the AD (namely Perkins). but there's no link to the teams/athletes, and it's not an NCAA violations issue. I don't know why you keep trying to portray it is if it were.

Well the big thing is gonna be where the money went. If it stayed away from your programs then you are fine. If it went back in to the atheltic programs then there is gonna be problems. Perkins has to get canned or step down over this doesn't he?

Mizzou recruit Tony Mitchell:

"Sources said he took the equivalent of nine course make-up exams in two days — five of them over a two-hour period. Mitchell passed every test, and — in just a matter of hours — went from being a freshman at Pinkston to qualifying as a senior."

I want to know how 8 classes/credits somehow jumps you from being a freshman to a senior. There's obviously something up with Mitchell's grades, but between the report patting itself on the back about 5 times and that credits bit, I'm not sure how much of it is true.

Required core courses. 1 of the classes was probably phonics.

Good article that somewhat defends the notion that Coach Cal is evil and is all that's wrong with college basketball.

my favorite part of that incoherent, strangely-worded piece:

Relax. He's just a coach, with a particular philosophy that rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

yeah, relax, he's just a coach, just like any other cheating coach who has had final fours at two different schools vacated. haha.

as far as "throwing stones at the throne", ha. this guy has got to be a kentucky schill, because, dog, there ain't no throne to toss stones at. kentucky hasn't been to a final four in over a decade and calipari has no final fours on his resume.

earlier in the "article", he weirdly defends eric bledsoe, as if anyone needs to feel sorry for a guy who will be playing in the nba and may very well get a bunch of victories vacated by the university he played at. no one is attacking eric bledsoe, he's just a basketball player, no one can blame him for taking a bunch of cash. the question is, where is the cash coming from and who paid off the high school coach? hmmm, well, my guess would be the boosters of wherever he went to school.

calipari is a piece of human filth, and not because he slicks his hair back.
