So what exactly did Cal come up with that changed his mind so quickly? What a farce this guy is making of the NCAA.

woops!

Won't matter. Coach Cal is untouchable. The talking heads at ESPN don't even go after him. I get he's Italian and thus Vitale is in love with him, but what about Bilas and Gotlieb? Why can't these guys even question him?

Gottlieb went after him early last season. I'm guessing he was told to shut up cause there wasn't much talk about it after the first few days he ripped him.

how about the last two schools he's been at have been hit with sanctions while he had his foot out the door? not to mention memphis having to forfeit every single win in one year.

cal is as filthy as they come.

No wrongdoing on the part of Calipari there. He makes no qualms about what college basketball is about: winning games and making money. So he recuits the types of players that can do that for him, guys that are more likely to get in trouble, but that doesn't mean Calipari is doing anything wrong.

What is there to go after Calipari for? I think we all agree that the NCAA is a sham and is a money-making organization masquerading as being about the student-athletes. I have no problem with coaches like Calipari who take one-and-dones and hand them off to the NBA, exposing the system for what it is.

Marcus Camby was sat up with an agent while playing for Cal. Rose had someone take his SAT for him. I'm sure you think that Cal had nothing to do with either of these things?

yeah, eddie sutton didn't do anything wrong at kentucky, either.

what a [expletive] joke. despicable.

and how are guys who are better at basketball more likely to get in trouble? that doesn't make sense.

I think we all know what he was implying there.

People are making millions of dollars off their talents and hard work, while they have to go through the motions of going to class and get nothing for it in high school and college. It's only natural for players like them to start looking for ways to skirt the rules. Camby and Rose will have played college basketball somewhere. All Calipari said is "hey, you can come play for me." It's silly to scapegoat Calipari for not hiding the less savory parts of college basketball when everybody knows they exist and are profiting off it as well.

he's implying that cal recruits players who will take money or have no problem with cheating to get cleared to play?

i don't honestly know how anyone can defend that puke. and it's idiotic to say that he's never been caught. he has been caught twice, he just has enough insulation, like most coaches, to deny everything.

it's like saying al capone was guilty of tax evasion and that's all he ever did.

The beautiful thing is he still can't win it all. Bend every rule you can Cal, you still can't get it done. Oh and you still have pee on your shoe from when Bill Self pimp smacked you down the stretch of the '08 game. And it really hurts me to have to even like that a bit.

haha, the old "someone would have taken them" argument. yes, but only a cheater would have been willing to cheat to get them in, and he's done this twice at two different schools.

the ncaa may choose to punish the schools and not calipari, but that only puts kentucky at risk of facing the death penalty again.

some people are willing to ignore the rules and say "win at any cost", some people have no scruples about how they compete. i think everyone knows what calipari is and what he does, i'm not going to blame him for being scum, but i will blame university of kentucky for employing such a cheater who will undoubtedly destroy their program someday.

it's not a matter of if he screws up, it's a matter of when and uk is playing with fire.

yeah, he's going to fail with his tin-men mercenaries anyway.

It's obvious nothing I saw will change your mind about Calipari. My point is that the problem is with the NCAA not being able to reconcile their need to make millions of dollars and their purpose of providing student-athletes with a quality education. I don't think Calipari is above reproach, but the much bigger issue is the NCAA's greed and hypocrisy. Sort that out first, and coaches like Calipari will slowly disappear.

He still does at times on the radio and I think it's pretty easy to tell that Bilas isn't a fan. I'm sure ESPN has instructed them on what they can say on issues like that.

CDR and Rose missed 3 of 4 free throws in the last minute of the game. Self didn't pimp slap anyone.

Calipari was at Memphis for 8 years and the only thing that ever came up was the Rose situation. Rose is not the only highschool player to have someone take a test for him. I don't remember much about the Camby situation except he was caught taking money from an agent. Sure Calipari was the coach when both instances went down, (Rose still denies someone took his test by the way) but Calipari himself has not been implicated in either violation.

coaches generally don't go down for these violations. as i said, eddie sutton was never implicated in anything at kentucky, sampson was never implicated at oklahoma. al capone was never implicated in anything but tax evasion.

even had they made those free throws, they still wouldn't have won the game, as they won exactly zero games that season. would have been interesting to see a national title stripped, though.

you think it's a coincidence that his schools get caught just as he's out the back door? that's delusion. cal is a scumbag cheater and his apologists are like creationists.

I've just never understood why Calipari is the only one ever brought up when people talk about dirty coaches. They're all dirty. Calipair just happens to be more sucessful at recruiting than any other coach in the country. Did you realize that Kansas comes off probation this year? Boosters were caught giving "financial gifts" to players from 2002-2005. That span includes Williams and Self. That's not to mention the Darrell Arthur allegations of grade changing at his highschool. If Cal can get someone to take Rose's SAT surely Self can get Arthur's grades changed?

Mychael Henry goes from being unranked, to 18th in Rivals latest rankings. Talk about splashing onto the scene

the kid's shot reminds me of ray allen. the only problem that i have with him is that he doesn't appear to be exceptionally athletic. he does have a knack for scoring the basketball, though.
