New Mexico State is the WAC champion. Not a good day for bubble teams not named Minnesota and Mississippi State.

Wow. Illini fans can't be happy about this.

They're the 3rd team out now according to Lunardi. Really bad situation for them.

It's not cool if VaTech gets in and they don't, IMO.

13 seed seem about right for them?

I don't know, looking at their resume, I think they could be ahead of anyone else at the bottom of the S-Curve. They have a couple of good wins (@UTEP, Utah St 2x) and only a couple of bad losses.

Yea I dont see how Va Tech is supposedly in according to Lunardi, but Illinois isnt. Seth Davis and Greg Anthony had us in, and both said if someone else takes an at large bid, Va Tech is the next one out. Both said Illinois is in solid in their minds.

I've got them ahead of Wofford and right behind Siena, Murray State, and Cornell which would put them as the 2nd 13 seed.

I put them a little higher, as the last 12. I have a couple of at-larges behind them.

After the game against OSU, I felt like Illinois was definitely in. But pretty much everything has gone wrong for them. I still think Minnesota trouncing Purdue was the worst though. In the committee's minds it's probably between them for a 5th Big 10 bid, and combined with Illinois losing 6 of their last 8 games as well as Minnesota beating Illinois in Champaign and Minnesota upsetting Michigan State and Purdue on back to back days, I can't see how Minnesota doesn't get it. Really really tough loss for Illinois today as it was an extremely winnable game and probably would have made them "safe" in or at least had a "play in" game with Minnesota. Edited by UMFan83

I think Illinois and Minny deserve in over Va Tech. Va Tech has a strength of schedule of 132 thats the only reason they have the record they do. Give Illinois that type of schedule and they arent 19-14. Same goes for Minny.

I agree, I think Illinois deserves to be in. But in my opinion, the committee will determine the B10 deserves 5 teams and fairly or not will have to choose between the Illini and Minnesota. Right now Minny has all factors in their favor.

Which is ironic because the ACC only really deserves 5 teams and is somehow going to get 7 if they let VaTech in.

I'm usually against Big 10 teams making the tourney whenever possible, but it's a pretty solid, deep league this year, and in my biased opinion the middle ACC teams just don't pass the eye test. I watched pieces of the GaTech/UNC tournament game and the Jackets looked just plain stupid out there at times.

One thing the committee won't do, for sure, is consider things like "X league should have Y teams". That's just not even part of the process.

Bukie, I like what you have going on here, but I see no way Illinois is still in after yesterday.

Truthfully, they have so many more good wins than the rest of the bubble, I think they're safer than most people think. Even if Minnesota jumped them in the eyes of the committee, teams like Florida, Cal, Utah State, UTEP, Virginia Tech and Mississippi State just don't have the good wins to compare. Right now, there are 37 teams for 34 at large spots, and I don't think Illinois is one of the worst 3.

Here's an Indiana fan that will be upset if Illinois doesn't make the tournament. The Illini have wins at Clemson, Vanderbilt, Michigan State, at Wisconsin, and neutral against Wisconsin. That is simply so, so much better than what these other crappy bubble teams have done. In my bracket I don't think they'd even be one of the "last four" in.

I agree, but I just have a really bad feeling.

Well, I don't blame you at all. If you put a gun to my head I'd probably say they get left out. I just don't think they should be left out.
