When will Bud Selig come out and admit that MLB has messed this whole PED thing up from day 1. First in ignoring and profiting from it, then in making it an issue about cheating. This has led to this ridiculous witch hunt. Please come out and say "folks, we were wrong. This is not about cheating, it is about players health and safety. We need to stop this witch hunt and start being concerned about past, current and future players health. How can we cry about the integrity of the game if we first are not concerned about the health and safety of the players playing it. Banned PEDs are banned because they are addictive and harmful, not because they make players better."

 

This is much more in line with the NFL policy. Somehow the NFL does not have a media witch hunt issue that the MLB does

That's only because NFL did something about it first, and baseball has allowed itself to be framed as something more than just a sport, but rather some sort of beautiful poetic piece of art. There's nothing Selig can do about it. And there really wasn't anything he could have done about it before.

I still think if he would have made it a player health issue as opposed to a cheating/integrity issue, it would have gone a lot smoother for MLB. Of course if they were more concerned about players health in 1998 it would have helped a lot also.

The MLBPA never would have considered allowing testing if it wasn't for the public outrage related to cheating.

On a side note they look eerily similar, even for siblings. The entire McGwire family is odd. And FWIW, I'd be furious if someone spanked my kid, regardless of reasoning, also regardless of if they're family or not. That's just not cool. In fact it's freaking weird.

Yeah, I guess so....they are prolly real proud of those boys. After all, one is a roid guzzling book writer that wants to make $ exposing his brother,and the other one is a roid guzzler proud of breaking Maris' record while hugging the Maris kids.

 

Their parents did one helluva good job raising them.
