  1. I thought the A's picked up the remainder of his salary. Point being, Hendry was the one who gave him two more guaranteed years in the bigs. That someone else was stupid enough to pick up any of that contract doesn't excuse the original stupidity of handing him the 2 year deal. Playing AAA for the Cardinals, flipping burgers at Burger King, or just picking his nose in public for a living doesn't really matter, he's still under contract, and Miles can smile while he does whatever he decides to do, because Jim Hendry decided to reward him so generously for being sorta not bad one year when he played for the Cardinals. The Cubs are paying $1M of Miles 2010 salary per Cot's
  2. You can't make up ignorance of this magnitude Lugo? Have you seen his batting line on the 2010 season? .107/.167/.107/.274 Yes thats correct an OPS of .274 :(
  3. Answer me this Ricky, how many of your friends have a strong irrational dislike bordering on hatred of the Royals? Rivals usually bring out strong feelings about the other team. Look at the statements made about the Cardinals made on this thread? How much of that do you hear from Card fans about the Royals? I wager you there aren't as many threads started on any Cards fan forum in a MONTH as there are about the Cubs in a single DAY or about MIL/CIN in a week If you think this is a rivalry, you have some very weak standards for a rivalry
  4. I'm a Cards fan too. The supposed Cards-Royals rivalry is because they are in the same state, it doesn't mean they are rivals. The fans in KC are the ones making a big deal out of it. Kansas city, though not a traditional rival, and definitely not on par with the Cubs, is definitely not one-sided, and it's not just about the same state. There's also the World Series history, and the Royals' one shining moment was also something that had played a part in what was one of the longest stretches of no titles for the Cardinals. Obviously that changed in 2006. Add in the fact that there was one specific play that both sides could argue about (even though it didn't determine the series), and there was definitely a back and forth between the fan bases. If this was all one-sided, then you wouldn't have Cardinals fans driving across the state in droves for the series every year.. I disagree. It may not be ALL one sided but it is certainly HEAVILY one sided. The Royals have had ONE season in the last 15 over .500 Hard to have a rivalry when the best zinger a Royal fan can throw happened 25 years ago As to the "droves" of fans driving across the state, how many of those fans do you suppose live west of St Louis? A good number I would suppose. Add in the fact that since the Royals suck, it is usually easy to score some GOOD seats Heck, its not uncommon to see a good sized contingent of Cards fans in MIL when the Cards play there. NO, I would definitely say it is more along the lines of the MIL fans thinking they have a rivalry with the Cubs and not that my circle of friends is a representative sample but not one of them considers the Royals a rival.
  5. Tell that to the NFL. Wasn't that long ago (1969-1993) that the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds were in the NL WEST
  6. Thats pretty old news, there were a slew of stories about that in Jan 2009 http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/23/sports/baseball/23mcgwire.html http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3851381
  7. Single game tickets go on sale in early March, however the all inclusive areas are on sale now http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/stl/ticketing/allinclusive.jsp
