Quite a few changes going on, including:

Trib[/url]"]The Cubs are following the lead of the Boston Red Sox, opening up the space underneath the right-field bleachers for corporate pregame events, and for bleacher fans who may want to come down during the game and watch the action on flat-screen TVs.

A pane of one-way glass will separate fans from the right-field batting cage, allowing them to watch batting practice in the area that Guillen claims has been a long-time haven for rats.

.......

Bleacher advertising appears to be on its way, though nothing is set in stone. The Cubs did a mock-up signboard in left field over the winter, and though they eventually took it down, they're likely to use that spot for an advertising sign. Hayward said the Cubs are still talking to current and potential sponsors. "We're looking at options there, and on the on-deck circle as well, which is a high-visibility television shot, with various clients," Hayward said. The ads would block the Horseshoe Casino rooftop ad on TV shots from home plate.

.......

The rectangular, granite slabs on the sides of the outer walls are being taken down, beginning with right field, to be replaced eventually by fencing. The Cubs are doing it for aesthetic reasons, opening up the park and offering fans inside a view of downtown.

"It really opens up the ballpark to the neighborhood," Hayward said. "I'm not sure whose idea it was to put those up, but I think in the summer when you have the sun coming in, it's really going to brighten up that part of Wrigley Field."

The rectangular granite slabs... does it mean this:

Like to the left of the Marquee? If so, that sounds good. It had never even occurred to me. If that's not what it means, what are they talking about?

Oh and I am alright with all of these things, even the advertising in the bleachers. I think it means Rickets wants to spend and will look for ways to increase revenue. Bring it on.

I'm not sure, but I assume they're talking about these:

Granted, those already have fences on top of them, but the ones in the right field corner are a little worse.

One of the reasons I enjoy sitting in the last row of the 500 level on the first base side is that you can turn around and get a nice view of the skyline.

I wonder what the additional wind coming through the stadium will do?

It could make the wind even more of a presence meaning even less HRs with wind coming off the lake, but ESPECIALLY when it's coming from the south and west. There could be even more garbage pop up homers going out.

Maybe one of the engineers or weather guys on the board can make this a project.

I wouldn't think it would make much of a difference on days that the wind is blowing in. If there's any difference at all, I'd think it's going to be when the wind is blowing out of the south like you said. The thick red line is the area they're apparently taking out, so it'll help balls going to LF if anything.

That said, I don't think it's going to be that big of a difference at all. It's not like its a solid wall back there anyway. Have you ever sat in that section on a cold day in april when the wind's coming out of the south? Plenty of wind gets through.

I wish they could find an alternative to the chain-link fencing though. It's just so prison-like.

I'd say it's more high school field-like. A replacement would be something like metal bars, which is more prison-like.

Although I guess they could use something that looks more like nice fencing.

I've looked for the picture but can't find it right now. However, it seems as though I have seen an old picture of Wrigley that had black wrought iron where the concrete slabs were. As I recall, it looked pretty good and classic.

This is from BCB, but this is what it looked like without the panels there. I am assuming a chain link fence will be going up shortly.
