How is it still 1-1 in the 5th end of the women's curling match? Don't they usually score at least one point an end?

Sometimes, if you have the hammer and a chance to score 1, you will choose to clear the house and not score any points, so that you can keep the hammer and aim for a bigger score in the next end.

Oh, so going last isn't a rotating thing, but rather a who didn't score last thing.

Correct.

Another reason you might do it is to make sure you have the hammer in the decisive end. If the other team is sitting the only rock in the house and you have the hammer in the 9th end of a tied match, you might choose to clear the house so you can be tied with the hammer going into the last end, which is a dominating advantage.

drunk people on ice with brooms has lots of potential. Probably have to wear a helmet for safety reasons though.

I told a buddy earlier they need to have curling in bars. I'm sticking to that.

Shuffleboard is awesome, but that's the closest I have come.

Lindsey Vonn won the gold in downhill while fellow American Mancuso took silver.

I spoilered that for the sake of the 75 year olds who want to watch it on tape delay, but I'm going to detag it shortly.

Shuster and Jason Smith [expletive] suck.

Okay Smith still sucks but Shuster has gotten it back. Came back from down 4-0 to tie it at 4-4 in the 7th. They got 2 in the 4th with the hammer then stole 1 in the 5th and 6th when the Swiss had the hammer.

That's alright with me. I'm used to watching 90% of the Olympics on tape delay anyway, after seeing the results already scroll across ESPN's bottom line.

Spoilering Olympic results is kind of a norm most years by default.

I love this commentator for curling.

Commentator- "He has to take it from 93 feet and place it within 2 inches. Not even Sandy Koufax the great pitcher was that good from 90 feet."

American PBP guy- "It's 60 feet in baseball"

Commentator- "Is it? Even the great Sandy wasn't that good from that distance so it tells you the precision"

He later asked if calling the timeout was similar to "greasing the kicker in football"

Shuster's going to screw this last shot up and we're going to lose.

Unless you're the American men's team, apparently. That was awful.

That 1-1 match was weird because the first three or four ends were just the first team hitting the middle and then every subsequent shot being the next team knocking the stone out.
