if you're allowed to cut in and make a post that serves no other purpose than to insult me, i can do the same.

and here's the thing. i don't act like this in real life. however, you're still a nerd in real life.... so i'm not really concerned with my e-rep.

Rather than find myself in a pissing match with dexter of all people regarding which of us is cooler in real life, I think I'll gracefully bow out about now.

then why did you decide to make a dick comment towards 2 people in a conversation that didn't involve you in the first place?

let's not forget who made the first insult.

"i walked up to this randon guy on the street and punched him in the face. he wanted to fight after that, but i decided to gracefully bow out"

the thread made it amost 5 full pages before being hijacked by nonsense.

Did Bruce ever chime in on this discussion? I've been trying to keep up with his blogs on DH, but haven't seen him comment yet. I'm guessing that the Cubs are simply involved only if the price for Sheets is bargain basement price, which I doubt will happen with all of the interest.

I have seen anything from Bruce, but during the MLBTR live chat yesterday, someone asked the % chance they felt that Sheets would land with the Cubs and they said 15%.

ehh i wouldn't look to much into that. Tim Dierkes who does the MLBTR chat doesn't really have any inside information, he posts information thats already on the web or from people who send him articles and what not. Its based off his opinion, pretty much as a poster on this board posted a percentage, he's not a bruce miles type who has people inside the organization that he speaks to.

I also wouldn't buy too much of bruce levine's report in which he feels there is zero chance or that sheets will only end up being a cub if he takes a 1 million deal because thats all they have in the budget. The fact that cubs are watching him throw should tell you a lot. The Cubs know that sheets wont sign for 1 million or 3 million. They know he'll end up getting a contract in the 4-6 million range with incentives that might double it. Cubs probably want to see if he's worth it and if he's throwing well before looking more into sheets. Supposedly sheets also prefers the cubs over some other teams. Not sure who his top teams are to go to but supposedly the cubs are one of them. He's friends with theriot and some of the other cubs so i wouldn't be surprised.

My concern with Sheets is the fact that he's demanding 2 years at 10-12 per year. That tells me he doesn't think he can pitch more than 1 year and wants to get as much money as possible NOW instead of trying to "earn" it by proving he is healthy.

If he honestly thought he could pitch successfully for more than 1 year, he'd take a 1 year incentive laden deal and prove he can be effective AND healthy and score a bigger contract next year.

I think it is more he knows it might take most of the first year to get back to what he was thus he wants a guaranteed second year.

or there's that... either way, he doesn't think he's healthy

I still think he would do ok if we used him properly. But, it looks like we don't have enough in the budget for him anyways.

Aww, I missed the internet fight.

considering that all but about 3 posts on this page are on my ignore list, i'm going to assume this was a completely worthless discussion.

Sheets is supposed to be throwing around 12:30 on Tuesday. Too bad I'll be teaching then. I couldn't make it over until around 2 and he'll probably be done by then.

Isn't this the exact situation for which God created substitute teachers?

Maybe so if I hadn't had to take two sick days this week.
