Bears might be playing Thanksgiving Day in Dallas and are a potential opponent for the Bills to host in Toronto.

Would be an interesting road season for us, playing on Thanksgiving in Dallas' season, still possibly opening up the season on Sunday night to christen the Giants new stadium and then going to Toronto for a Bills game. All we need now is to get in on that international game. Too bad those teams are already picked out.

So, we've heard rumors that the Bears will be opening the new stadium at the Giants, at Dallas on Thanksgiving and in Toronto vs. the Bills. And that article also mentioned that the last 2 games will likely be division games.

I'll take boring 1 EST starts. National television games were not very kind to the Bears. If you could take out the prime time games from 2009 Cutler would've ended up looking a lot better.

I agree, but not because I think it's bad for the Bears. It's just much more enjoyable to watch games in the middle of a Sunday than at night.

I'd like to see the thanksgiving game. I'm always sitting around talking to family members and not caring about the games. I'd like to switch that up this year.

So, if everything we know comes true....we can sort of predict a good part of the schedule.

Assuming season starts the week of Sept 5.

Week 1- 9/5 @ NY Giants

Week 13- 11/25 @ Dallas

Week 14- 12/5 @ Buffalo in Toronto (they've played the previous 2 Canada games 12/3 and 12/7)

Week 15- home game

Week 16- 12-19 @ Minnesota or @ Detroit

Week 17- 12/26 v. Green bay

The Bears have played GB one of the final 2 games in 5 out of 6 years and in Chicago 4 of those times. Last year the Bears opened in GB, so the favor is returned to end in Chicago.

I'm also assuming don't end w/ 3 straight at home or have 3 straight on the road that late in the year.

I disagreed with you a lot yesterday, but I'm with you completely here. Bears games on Sunday afternoons are much, much more fun.

Agreed. I don't care much for waiting around all day for the Bears game. I would much rather get it over with and then move on to other things.

So, with the limited drafting the Bears do have (assuming they don't unload Olsen for picks), should they focus on need completely, or just try to get as much value out of the picks they do have as possible?

I think they have so many needs still that they can focus on getting the most value they can out of the picks available and still end up addressing a need. Whether it's an offensive lineman, DBack, DLineman (tackle or end), WR and even LB (often the best special teams players - and Urlacher is going to need to be replaced in the not too distant future). Maybe they stear clear of QB and RB, however, teams keep drafting QB's all the time and then trade them once they've become a little established, providing great value, and RB turns over all the time.

Of course, it's the lack of draft picks that allow us to both have Jay Cutler and to have spent some of the money we've spent this offseason.

Sucks about the Gaines Adams thing, though.

I agree. Value relative to need. I'd be fine with the Bears picking any position (other than K or P) with their 5 picks. But obviously, they aren't going to pick a QB or RB in the 3rd or 4th. I can see DT, S, CB, OG, OT, or WR at 75. Then another one of those positions in the 4th. Rounds 5-7, take the best value on the board.

Eagles have 395 draft-value points in third round alone. Bears have 352 in entire draft. Bears' entire draft worth same as 55th pick.

A depressing look at the Bears' draft picks from Brad Biggs.

I don't know if I really buy the whole draft pick value thing. Too many 1st round busts. It's only valuable until you screw it up -- and there's a lot of screwing it up going on.

Yeah but the point is, that draft points indicate the trade value of draft picks. If the Bears traded their entire draft for something, it would essentially be like trading the 55th pick of the draft for something.

Except that point system thing is considered way out of date, and mid-round picks have gone up in value and high 1st rounders have gone down, with the massive increase in guaranteed money those players get.

Looking at the Cowboys opponents, it almost has to be the Bears unless the NFL has the Cowboys play a divisional opponent that game or has the Saints game then. We have to play an NFC opponent since the Lions are drawing an AFC for their turn. If you rule out division and since we can't play the Lions then, it is either the Bears or Saints. My guess is they would want to save the Saints for another time.

So, who wants to come tailgate with a Cowboys fan for that game?

What I don't get is why they rule out division foe. Why not play one of those games then? The Bears have played Detroit on Thanksgiving. Dallas has played division foes in the past.

From what I've heard, it's outdated for some organizations and still strongly considered with others. I'm interested to see what a potential rookie cap would do with the points system. I think it would actually increase the points system's relevancy since that massive guaranteed money early 1st round picks would get would drop quite a bit.

Just grasping at straws here. I think there is an issue w/ playing a division game on a short week and having that determine the division. Plus, the NFL probably doesn't need ratings for the Thanksgiving games. People will watch regardless. Might as well save Cowboys/Giants or Eagles for a 4:00 Sunday or primetime game.

But there's been plenty of division games on short weeks, thanksgiving and the regular Thursday games. Just this year GB played Detroit on Thanksgiving.

I still think there's variance for thanksgiving viewers and they would like to throw out good matchups when possible, including division foes.

This doesn't seem like a good idea. Not going to get anything for Alex. He's on the last year of his deal. He's 31. He has more value to the Bears than he would in a trade. It would make more sense to let him play out the final year of his deal and get a comp pick for him in 2 years after he signs elsewhere.

I do like Mark Anderson more than most (think he had a solid 2009, especially the last 6 weeks), but he's not a better player than Brown at this point. And the depth isn't really there with Idonije who hasn't been a consistent contributor at DE, Gilbert who barely played last year, and Melton who didn't play a single snap.
