after this year, it's not much, but after this year he'll just be that much older.

And you can cut him with very little ramifications

I'm not saying it's a bad deal, I just think that's a lot to pay for an old backup RB.

But he hasnt taken the beating most 30 yr old RB's have.

I realize the situation, but he's still old. He turns 31 early next season. This isn't like when they reenergized Thomas Jones career when he was 26 and had even less mileage on his legs.

Bernstein saying they couldn't be trying harder to trade Olsen right now... they're working on it and so is Olsen's agent (Drew).

Saying there's no bridges being built between Olsen and Martz and Martz hasn't even attempted to reach out to him.

I know people are skeptical with B&B, but all of this completely makes sense.

if you frame it like that and consider nothing else, sure.

and he'll be paid like it.

he's also fairly young in terms of wear and tear. you, of all people, should know that.

Taylor has averaging 114 carries per season in his 9 year career. In perspective, Adrian Peterson is averaging 228 carries per season, during his 4 year career So yeah, I do think Taylor has a good 3 productive years left.

So does this make the Bears a playoff team in the NFC?

Still have to do something with the Oline

True, but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that it was considerably better at the end of the year. Once Pace got out of the picture, things seemed to get a lot better and I really liked how Williams played against Allen in the Vikings game. If it was horrible at the start of the year, it might've been closer to average at the end of the season.

Not if they throw for more than 2500 yards.

There's no framing. He's old, a backup RB, and that's a big chunk of change. He has less mileage than the LDT of the world, but he's not been untouched, he's played a lot.

LiamHatton[/url]"]It's official, Julius Peppers is a Chicago Bear. Six years $72 million with three years guaranteed, $40 million in the deals first 3 years.

he's not old. 30 isn't old if you don't have much mileage on you. if he was 35, he'd be pushing it, but there isn't much a 25 year old can do that a 30 year old can't if everything else is equal, which it pretty much is.

My wife has three articles of clothing with an athletes name of them. A Kerry Wood t-shirt, a Greg Olsen jersey, and a Walter Payton jersey. Gone, gone, dead.

I don't get all the uproar on the radio about "dishonesty" with some statements by Bears people, ie. not trading Olsen, not going hog wild in free agency. Why would people expect absolute honesty during negotiating periods?

Some people are stupid, i.e. that guy that wondered if Lovie Smith knows what is going on with his own team because he made some comments supportive of Olsen.

Granted, the Bears HAVE said some things that turned out to accurate... like the comments about not upgrading WR (though they were clearly in pursuit of Plaxico at the time) and the comments about always looking to upgrade the QB position last year (Cutler fell in their laps).

We're talking about NFL football players here, not accountants. 31, which he turns in September, is old in the NFL, very old for RB. You don't only measure RB age with carries, there's also all the offseason work, training camp, practice, etc. He's old. He doesn't have "essentially" 3.5 years of work under his belt. He's almost 31, he's played a good amount of time. He's not fresh.
