The level of competition in football certainly doesn't seem to be heading the same direction as basketball right now.

Wow. The Uconn coach with some large marbles. He just went for it on 4th and 1 from their own 48 yard line. 8 min left in the game and they're down by 3.

 

Edit: And it pays off hugely. They gain 2 yards on 4th, and then throw a 35 yard pass down to the Irish 10.

Randy Edsall is an idiot. He just sat on it with 3 timeouts instead of trying to get closer. I don't know anything abut UConn's kicker but I know enough about college football to realize a 37 yard field goal isn't a chip shot.

 

Plus on the previous drive when UConn had a chance to take a lead he called two runs in a row on 2nd and goal from outside the 15 yard line.

Boy, for a game that Mizzou never came close to putting away, I never found myself concerned or nervous at all. Weird game.

 

Doesn't matter though, beat kansas next week and finish the rebuilding year with 8 wins will make a lot of Tiger fans happy.

man penn state against teams with average or bad front 7 is like night and day from very good front 7. guess that happens with a mediocre o-line.

 

and thanks holy cross for losing to a shitty bucknell team for your only patriot league loss of the year. glad i went to that one. bucknell ran one play about 95% of the time, qb either hands off to the full back or holds onto it and runs outside. they weren't even using the pitch option on the running play and we couldn't stop them. add to that our head coach using two time outs with the clock stopped on the final drive, and coaching was just a complete failure today.

Stoops's interest is rumored, he's the guy I want. Brian Kelly is the presumptive favorite and probably the guy who will be hired. Those are the only two that have been directly linked so far.
