This team new they were signing a headcase at the time they were offering up the deal. They could have signed some guys with that same money that weren't headcases, but they wanted the headcase even after considering the non-headcase guys. Because he shows his true headcaseyness, now it's unacceptable for him to be here, no matter what the cost is to move him.

The person who manages a baseball club this way has no business managing a baseball club.

Bradley has now been on nine different teams in ten years. Was it the Manager's fault on all those other teams too?

What I'm saying is they didn't have to trade him. Nothing happened that forced them to trade Milton Bradley. There was never a time when they had to trade Milton Bradley. The fact that they were determined to trade him no matter what does not mean they had to trade him.

The guy is a cancer. They never should have signed him in the first place. The red flags were all there. His teammates hated him. Theriot was practically giddy during an interview today. Hendry should follow him out of town. His signing of and trading of Bradley were both horrible deals.

What red flags in terms of teammates hating him? That's like the one thing Bradley didn't have a problem with before he was signed. And who gives a [expletive] what that awful midget at SS thinks? He's been the only guy to seem to not like Bradley, and it's hardly like he speaks for the team.

Ryan Theriot is an Afflicition T-Shirt wearing douchebag who isn't good at baseball, who cares what he thinks? Cancer kills people, a [expletive] teammate does not affect his teammates play.

Jeesh, lay off Theriot. According to Bruce Miles everyone affiliated with the Cubs wanted Bradley gone.

Why lay off Theriot? He's terrible at baseball yet we seem to be stuck with him instead of him having been traded already at the peak of what little talent/value he had.

I said "red flags were there." Eight teams in nine years, blow up after blow up, inability to handle the media, etc., etc.

If you think just Theriot hated Bradley then you are very naive. Let's see how many Cubs defend his antics in the next few days.

And so what? Seriously, baseball players in general are very stupid people. They are sheltered humans with distorted views of the world, and usually uneducated. Who cares what they think or what they want? They are paid to play baseball. Baseball people have clung so hard to outdated beliefs and wrongheaded nonsense that it shouldn't matter to anybody what any of them think. The only logical choice in this situation was to hold onto Milton Bradley. This team was not good enough to throw away assets because a couple pansies couldn't deal with a jerk for a teammated.

None of which requires him to be traded.

We've already heard Cubs defending him.

Do you seriously think that Bradley was somehow detrimental to the team outside of his own lackluster performance?

And as usual, Bruce is right.

I'm not at all a Theriot fan but he really isn't terrible at baseball.

At this point, I'd almost rather keep Bradley and get rid of everyone else if everyone else felt Bradley needed to be gone. If the team believes it's better to have lesser talented players so that everyone can smile and high five in the clubhouse than it is to go out there and win games, we are definitely signing the wrong personnel.

Well, if you're not going to lay off Theriot, you should lay off the hyperbole. Theriot is probably somewhere around league average maybe slightly below - all things considered. He's not exactly Rey Ordonez with the bat.

Yeah i hate theriot but to be honest he's not terrible. I do agree the cubs should trade him at this point because his value is at a high and they have their future SS waiting in the minors. But as much as this franchise likes him, i doubt they move him. The love the cubs have for theriot is similar to the love the bulls organization has with hinrich. Eventhough both players are average and can be upgraded, the franchise still keep them around and keep them as starters.

I don't need to lay off the hyperbole. I'm pissed; Ryan Theriot should not be a starting MI for this team. Him being there just epitomizes how bad the Cubs' farm system had been for so long and how poorly this team has been run. Edited by Sammy Sofa

You Can't Quiet The Riot

The acquisition Carlos Silva is inconsequential, if I heard it correctly, the Mariners took on Bradley' contract and gave the Cubs 9 million, that's the key.

Remember all the jokes about Hendry overpaying middle relievers? He trumped them all: The worst middle reliever in baseball for 2 year/$15 million deal.

No one let Bill Bavasi know there's a job opening up soon.

Serious question: When was the last time the Cubs had a pitcher as bad as Carlos Silva on the roster?

Well, then it's a good thing you're not 'almost' the Cubs GM.

No, that is not the key, because the Cubs lost a player that can be servicable and acquired a player who sucks, but are still playing a large sum of money.
