They already called a chop block, which I never see called on anyone else, to submarine the drive, so now they're going to try and call a fumble here on Jimmy, when there's no way the ball could have had a fumble to make the ball go that way.

$14 million for the Big East if Pitt makes a BCS bowl.

Don't embarrass yourself like this.

2nd week in a row they've reviewed a dead ball situation and turned it into a fumble even though there's no precedent for that being allowed.

I really don't care because we don't deserve to win, but that's [expletive].

I'm pretty sure there were two or three chop blocks called in the Missouri game today.

if i watch football most of the weekend i usually see at least one called, especially if it's a textbook chop block like the one that was properly called on notre dame.

Look, we shouldn't win either way and since it was gonna be 4th and 16, probably wouldn't have anyway. But there's a huge pattern this season with hideous review decisions.

I know a lot of people on here isn't going to like what I am about to say, but who the heck cares:

Mark Ingram-Alabama's first Heisman Trophy winner? I do believe so.

Deserving? Definitely. Will he win it? I'm not sure. He's not a QB.

I read an article a little while ago that promoted Ndamakong Suh for the Heisman. It won't happen, but he might be the most deserving this year.

Now that I've had my emotional outburst I still think Iowa makes the BCS. I don't think they'll drop out of the top 14 and I think they could still get to the top 12 if enough teams lose when they are off.

Unless they go to the rose bowl they should not make the BCS.

Good to know. Texas has no business in the title game if Cincy wins out either.

Hard to disagree with that, and for TCU and Boise St too. What teams does Iowa legitimately deserve to go to a BCS game ahead of though?

Teams like Pitt, USC, Miami, and Penn State. Which is who they are competing against.

chop block call didn't seem questionable. but really bad officiating (not just against nd, but in many games) + clear incentive for the conferences (that pay the officials) doesn't make you raise an eyebrow?

The best part was that he said "the ruling on the field is a fumble", as if they hadn't waved their arms incomplete a hundred times prior to the review.

What happened there was either incompetence or corruption and either way it needs to be addressed.

And in case it needs reiteration, we would have lost anyway and I care a lot less about that than I do about the pattern and its needing to be stopped.

I really don't think the replay booth has sound on their replays. So if the officials don't notice it in the first place that they blew the play dead before there was any clear recovery, then you get mistakes like what has happened to ND each of the last two weeks. The NFL has the same problem..the Colts got a huge break on the goal line last week in which the whistles had already blown it dead before the Colt touched it, but in the confusion nobody noticed it and the replays without sound made everyone forget what happened in live action.

This one was bad on both fronts though. At least last week it was actually a fumble. This was was both an incomplete pass and also no clear recovery of the fumble before the play was dead and yet Pitt got the ball.

I would say Pitt has a much better chance of potentially getting an at-large after all the carnage today. #9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17 all went down today. That's also going to let teams like Penn State and Oklahoma State move very close to eligibility (Penn State will likely be eligible after this week).

UC Davis won the Great West title by beating North Dakota today. It's really a shame that the Great West doesn't have six teams which would guarantee it an auto berth in the FCS playoffs because it deserves it. It's rated as the second best FCS conference by both Sagarin and College Sporting News' GPI. None of the five teams are great (at best they're ranked 20-25) but there isn't a bad team either. UCD has the best record at 6-4 but that's a bit deceiving because they played Fresno State, Boise State as well as Montana (the No. 2 ranked FCS team) and are 6-1 outside of that and they should have beaten Montana. They deserve to go just as much as the winner of the MEAC and Patriot League do.

SIU rolled over Missouri St. 44-24. 14 of Missouri State's points came against our 2nd and 3rd string defense in the 4th quarter. Nonetheless, another impressive performance by the Salukis.

One game left against SEMO next week and then it's onto the playoffs.

This is a completely wasted season. I hope we forfeit our bowl bid.

sulleymon, is that you?

I'm so sick of the conservative coaching bullcrap. In college 1 minute is enough to get a field goal especially when you are on the freaking 40 or what ever it was. There is no way Iowa shouldn't be in the Rose Bowl.

I'm going to puke hardcore.

fire ferentz right?

you're a [expletive].

I didn't say that. I said that last minute was stupid and conservative play calling is stupid.

It worked out pretty well, to be honest.

I think most long time ND haters would find it ironic that ND fans are complaining about officiating.

I think most ND fans wouldn't be shocked to hear ND haters think ND has received favorable officiating in every game ever played, including ones in which ND is not involved.

I also think most ND haters (myself included) would agree that they got completely screwed by that "fumble" call last night.

I am not saying the call wasnt bad. I just am basically saying there are plenty of ND haters who would say that ND is just getting what they deserved. Personally, I just think that complaining about officiating by everyone is getting stale. I really dont think anyone is getting screwed on purpose or do I think there is some agenda to help certain teams make the BCS. Officials are humans that make mistakes, just like the players make mistakes. If someone was to watch the games objectively I am sure they will find places where officiating mistakes have helped their teams also. Most people dont watch objectively(especially a team like ND) Which is why ND haters are quick to point out when officiating has helped ND win, while ND fans point out how officiating has screwed them.

52 seconds with the ball on the 33.

It's fun for all Iowa fans to act like tough guys and call it cowardly, gutless and all that stuff. All the while ignoring that in Vandenberg's last 2 possessions he basically threw 3 INT's. The one that counted, the one on the screen (offsides didn't affect the play) and the one that should have been picked but ended up with a catch to Moeaki.

I didn't love the decision but can see the reasoning. It sure would have helped to have won the coin toss in overtime.

Hopefully we still get into the Fiesta Bowl.
