I guess we can take a small bit of solace in knowing that win or lose, the Packers proved they are also a joke today.

So, after this, the Bears get the 49ers on Thursday, then the Eagles, then the Vikings.

This is going to be an unpleasant stretch of the schedule.

Hopefully this stretch here will be the stretch that gets Lovie and Turner off this team.

Even though it will take a miracle to make the playoffs now, its still nice to only have to wait 4 days to get a chance to put this loss behind us. Unlike the Cubs, I can enjoy Bears games even if they have no shot at the playoffs. Must be the small number of games.

Man, Lovie Smiths press conference's just piss me off more and more each week

I can see his press conference after the Bears lose in Week 17 to finish 6-10

"We made some bad mistakes, but we're a better football team than this. We just gotta put this performance behind us and look forward to the next game."

Reporter: Umm Lovie there isn't another game the season is over.

"Look you gotta look at this season in quarters. We came out strong the first quarter and then struggled our way through the next three quarters. We just gotta play better the next quarter and get better."

Reporter: ......?!?

(eyes dart around the room in confusion" "Ummm....Rex Grossman is our quarterback?" (looks around for acceptance...quickly walks off the podium)

I'm not sure why you would say this. The Bears aren't putting this loss behind them. And they aren't putting the Cincy loss behind them either. These are damning losses that will hang around Lovie's neck as proof that his team isn't good enough, and his position as head coach is going to end.

You don't wash this kind of blood off your hands unless you go on a huge winning streak, and frankly that's just not happening.

Yet if we beat the 49ers there will inevitably be some looking at the playoff picture again.

At 5-4 yes technically they would still be alive and kicking for playoff purposes but honestly there is soooooooo much they would have to fix to actually make a strong playoff push that I can't fathom it happening. Blowing some close games is one thing, getting completely blown out in consecutive games against competitive teams (sorry Cleveland)........one blowout maybe you can say is a fluke, it happens a 2nd time and you really start to wonder.

And even at 5-4, odds are pretty strong the Eagles and Vikings will knock them back to reality again.

Sadly the 2010 season will be much like this one. 1-2 FA's won't change the fact that our defense and O-line is terribly shoddy, with D-league recievers catching the ball.

Right now the receivers are the least of this team's problems.

A few weeks ago Lovie's excuse was that it's really November and December that counts.

Well, it's November now and you still suck. What will be your excuse now, Lovie?

I wouldnt go that far. Bennett cutting off routes is a major problem. It directly has lead to a couple of Cutlers INTs. A big veteran WR would do wonders for this team, as it would give Cutler someone to trust on 3rd down where he can throw the ball up to his WR and expect him to bring it down. Hester has been nice this year, but hes not a go get it type WR.

OLine and D are definitely problems, but WR is still a problem.

So, Lovie gets paid until 2011, and Angelo until 2013.

Get ready for the long, cold winter of Bear fans' discontent.

You know, it's funny. After the Super Bowl, it was obvious that someone in the Bears' organization was reluctant to pay all that cash for Lovie. But the whole world was screaming at the Bears to pay him. At the time, I admit it: I wanted him re signed too. Whoever that person was must have known something. A little inkling perhaps, that the good times with Lovie Smith weren't likely to last. Right about now I find myself wishing the Bears didn't make that long term investment.
