According to Sportscenter, the Bulls are the first team in NBA history to win 5 consecutive road games all against winning teams.

I know, it sounds unbelievable that it's never occurred, but apparently it hasn't.

I went out to eat last night at the start of the 4th quarter (when NO started making their run). I was listening to it on the radio before we got to the restaurant and it sounded like it was over for sure (New Orleans was up 4 and the Bulls couldn't do I think). I was stunned when I checked the score and saw that they won.

Please don't play down to the crap teams now. You have too much of a good thing going right now.

I heard that too and was sure I misheard them. It seems so unpossible.

my guess is that the randomness of scheduling rarely has you play five road games against teams with winning records to begin with, so then winning those 5 in the few chances you have is probably rare.

Still, seems crazy

Yeah, just getting to the possibility is pretty unlikely. 5 straight road games is rare enough, 5 straight against winning records can't happen more than maybe once or twice a season. Not surprising no one has done it.

this is probably a dumb question, but are the bulls definitely going after one of the big free agents this offseason? i know it's been speculated and maybe even assumed, but is it for sure that they're going to go after one (or more) of the big 5-6 free agents?

Yeah it's 100% certain as long as they can clear a little more room. The latest word is that the Bulls still need to make a move to afford 1 max deal under the cap, signaling either Salmons or Kirk will be going in the next couple of weeks. It's nearly impossible for them to afford 2 max FAs, I think even if they got rid of Kirk and Salmons, they would still need to clear another $5-7 million to make it happen.

The Bulls have pretty much said publicly they are going to be going after one of the top FAs this summer.

Bosh was the only one I really have heard about. Maybe Wade, but I think he is staying in Miami. The Bulls really need a good frontline player.

I've heard through various reporters that it's believed Wade is their #1 target then Bosh. I think Wade is a better player and would have a bigger impact, but Bosh sure seems like the better fit. I doubt we get either but imagine the marketing possibilities of having 2 superstars on your team both from Chicago.

Taj Gibson and Noah's development might play a factor too. The better they get, the more comfortable Forman might be in going after Wade.

I'm sure they'll "go after" one of them. The question is if they'll actually have the cap space to land one. Without moving Salmons, Deng or Hinrich, it isn't happening.

It's nice when the Bulls win, but I'm afraid this recent stretch of good play will make them short sighted and they'll hang onto everyone at the deadline. They need to think about the long term health of the franchise and not become too enamored with the idea of maybe winning a first round series this year.

My assumption would be that the front office learned from the Baby Bulls/Kobe fiasco and now realize that you need a big-ticket guy to win a title, and that we don't have one right now (Rose may possibly become one, but point guards don't seem to be able to be 'those guys').

realize that you need a big-ticket guy to win a title

And in most cases, you need two big-ticket guys (or at least a 1b big-ticket guy).

We only need 1 more then. To me Rose is big ticket right now. Imagine what he would be with Bosh.

I agree that Rose can be considered a big-ticket kind of player. If he ever learns how to get to the line consistently, I think he can average a pretty efficient 25 points per game.

Still need that other big player though.

Rose will start getting to the line consistently once he starts getting the same calls all the other "stars" do in the league. Why it hasn't happened yet is beyond me.

That will help some, but it's not everything. He's averaging under 4 FT attempts per game. If Corey Maggette can get to the line 9 times per game, there's no reason Rose can't do the same.

Update on the LeBron story from RealGM... If you guys arent familiar, Vescey had mentioned a few months back that his sources told him LeBron was likely to leave Cleveland and was only willing to go to NY, NJ, and the Bulls... Here's the post/email exchange a poster had....

For those of you who follow Peter Vescey, awhile back he wrote an article stating that his sources told him that if Lebron were to leave the Cavs in 2010, the ONLY places he would consider are Chicago, NY, and NJ. I am not sure exactly when Vescey wrote that, but I think it was in late November or early December (in other words, before this recent Bulls surge). Seeing as how the Bulls are much improved since then and Derrick Rose is an all-star, I decided to follow up with Vescey regarding the chances Lebron comes to the Bulls. He had some interesting insight. For those of you who read Vescey and are interested in him, he is excellent at responding to emails. Here is the exchange that Peter and I shared this morning:

Hi Peter,

As always, I loved your most recent column. You are certainly must-read on all issues NBA. Awhile ago you wrote a story indicating Lebron James would consider only the Knicks, Nets, and Bulls if he were to leave Cleveland. I wrote you asking whether the Bulls were legitimate players in the Lebron sweepstakes. My question is with the Bulls playing so much better now and Derrick Rose taking a leap into stardom (and the All Star game), do you think Chicago has a better chance to get Lebron? Seems to me if the Bulls are above .500 as is, then adding Lebron to the mix makes them an elite team and a title contender for at least the next 5 years, or however long Lebron remains. Anyway, I was just wondering what you are hearing the chances Lebron leaves Cleveland are and, if he leaves, what are the chances he winds up in Chicago?

Thanks for the big ups....Nothing new on LeBron other than Knicks verify what I'd been told...that he's leaving at season's end. Don't know how he'll justify that should Cavs win it all, which certainly could happen. Bulls wealthy of talent and youth (highlighted by Rose) and cap space make it attractive drop zone for LeBron. If they make the playoffs does Reinsdorf dump Del Negro? He sure has been subverting Vinny since signing him on the cheap....Peter

mike aller is having a heart attack.

but chicago has to be so much more attractive than any of those other places. NY is a marked step back, NJ more so. chicago has rose and a big man that does all the dirty work and requires exactly zero touches.

Peter Vecsey, imo, has as much credibility as Sam Smith. So definately take whatever Vecsey say with a grain of salt.

Like anyone else reporting rumors, a lot of the stuff he says isn't going to come true. A lot of what he says, however, does come true. Obviously, his Paxson story last year had some legs to it, for one. Why people like to rip on these guys so much when it's obvious that the nature of what they're reporting is pretty tenuous is beyond me.

Anyway, I don't believe he's making this up out of thin air.

Yeah but NY is NY. There are numerous non basketball variables that would draw LeBron there over Chicago.
