With Rose playing the way he is, is it safe to say that this team will be a playoff team?

Would it be fair to say that Rose not being 100% had a lot to do with the slow start? It's beginning to appear he truly is THE guy that makes this team go as well as he's played lately.

Just a week ago, they lost to the Clippers and Warruirs, so no.

Yeah, just enjoy it while it lasts.

But that said, a lot of us thought they were considerably better than a .500 team before the season started.

I am absolutely stunned at this run by the Bulls. It literally came out on nowhere. I mean I would have honestly been impressed if the 4 road wins were over Washington, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Detroit, that's how awful the Bulls have been on the road. But to do it during an extended road trip to the west coast against 4 playoff contenders, I'm just dumbfounded. I don't know how to react to this, so I'm just going to enjoy it. The Bulls are 1 GB the 5 seed in the East.

They are, however, 3 ahead of Milwaukee for the 8th spot currently, so they're in decent position.

I would love to get to at least the 6 seed to draw Atlanta or Orlando instead of Boston or Cleveland.

This is a playoff team. The problem is that they play to their competition when the competition is bad. Plus they are healthy now. They have beaten a bunch of very good teams (Cleveland, Spurs, Orlando) but lost to teams they shouldn't. No matter who the coach, this team doesn't heat up until the second half. No they just need to trade for Amare.

Those losses, while frustrating, weren't as inexplicable as everyone makes them seem. Pargo had to play significant minutes in both games. That's a huge dropoff from Hinrich or Salmons. Pargo is bad. Really, really bad. He's poison when he's on the floor.

Oh, I'm not saying it's not a playoff-caliber team, just that nothing is safe.

I'd take their chances vs. Boston again. Even with Garnett, the Bulls can beat the Celtics.

there's absolutely no way. We haven't come within 15 point of Boston everytime we've played them with Garnett. What makes you think we would all of the sudden?

FTH are the Thunder doing in that photo? It looks like Rose decided to dunk his free throw attempt instead of shoot it from the line

That's basically what happened... after he blew by thabo, you could see Westbrook make a face like... "yeaaaa...f it. i'm not about to get posterized."

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLLLLEEEEEEE!!!!!

Except for that. Celtics would steamroll the Bulls.

boers and bernstein keep pissing me off and getting my hopes up by mentioning the L word when it comes to the offseason. they go so far as to say that they believe that the bulls have their guns loaded for a run at two max FA's, and generally b and b are the most cynical sports radio personalities in chicago.

dear lord, i can't wait for the offseason, even if they whiff, it's bound to be interesting.

How exactly does the cap work... I know the luxury tax is in place for teams who go over the cap... but can you go over the cap without re-signing one of your own guys? Basically, can you sign a free agent and go into the tax for him? As I understand it, I wouldn't think so, but I don't really understand the cap and the tax completely.

Otherwise, they will need to make some moves to have any chance of getting two max FA's.

Truth be told... you don't even need two max FAs if the L word is being invoked. LeBron on this team = a 60+ win team and title contender.

Noah, Deng, LeBron, Hinrich, Rose

Nasty.

You could put JJ Reddick at SG and I'd still love that team.

They don't have their guns loaded. Mainstream media people do not understand the rules of the NBA's salary cap, so no one should listen to what they say. Unless the Bulls make some miraculous and creative trades, they aren't remotely close to having room for two max free agents. If Salmons opts in for 2010, they may not even have room under the cap for one max guy.

derrick rose makes chicago exponentially more desireable than new york and new jersey and maybe even cleveland.

i think deng would have to be unloaded this year to fit two max guys under the cap, but that hamstrings us for this season. i just get worried about management deciding that the current team might be worth keeping together due to their recent successes.

i want wade or lebron. of course any of the FA's would be nice, but wade and lebron are the guys we should be absolutely targeting above all else. i'm still spoiled from the jordan years but i want a perrenial contender in chicago and only t hose guys ensure it.

i thought wrigley22 laid out what would have to happen fairly well. they'll have enough space for one even with kirk and salmons.
