In general, I do find that Lovie & his staff tend to pull this "we're smarter than you" act that is kind of insulting.

OK, you're an NFL coach. People who have watched the game for a long time can tell when your line sucks. It doesn't take a paycheck coming from an NFL team to be able to see that on TV.

I understand that we might not be aware of all the schemes & strategies being employed, but when the object is to run the ball straight ahead and you see your OLine being blown 3 yards back, any fool can see you just got beat at the line of scrimmage.

I think it's much less about "we're smarter than you" and much more about "you guys know we can't say that to the media". They aren't going to say the line sucks. They always stay positive and supportive in public. On the other hand, Bill Parcells may be one of the world's biggest "I'm smarter than you" football people, but he's also more than willing to criticize players in public.

Lets not pretend that's a magic O-line fix...it's a step in the right direction, but frankly, Kreutz needs to be replaced...and probably pretty soon.

Yeah, I'm not sure Shaffer is that much better than Pace and Pace is old/bad.

Sometimes you don't realize how much you miss a lineman until they're gone, and I think thats the case here with John Tait.

Not for me. He wasn't good, and he would be worse this year than he was last year.

I dont miss Tait's pass blocking skills from last year. Williams run blocking skills, im not going to trash those yet without watching him more closely in that department.

RT. If it isnt the oline then it must be Forte, if it isnt Forte is must be you. I don't know what else to point the finger at and by looking at the YPC of this team some fingers need to be pointed. He doesnt have to call out players by name but saying the oline is playing good is garbage.

I just think there are many ways to state these things that are short of "oh hell yea, we know they suck!"

I mean Turner just came out and said they're all great. That's insulting.

He said they are good football players who were playing well and that the struggles are about more than the offensive line. He didn't say they were all great and I have no idea why you would suggest he did.

The Chicago Bears do not publicly criticize their players, they are very publicly supportive of everybody and they will never call out one player or one position group.

Come on. You're parsing semantics. You know how Turner's comments sounded to just about everyone. Playing well? Give me a break.

You are exaggerating his words and making a mountain out of a molehill. He said they were good football players. He said they all need to be better. He never said they were great and it's stupid to accuse him of saying they were all great. If that's how it sounded to everybody than everyone is an idiot.

The Chicago Bears publicly support their players and do not call out individuals. All indications are that they will be making personel changes this week. I really don't understand why you are being so pissy about this. I hate Turner, but what do you honestly expect him to say?

Oh I know, but even a step in the right direction is a positive thing. And we will definitely improve our run blocking with this line even if overall they are only a small upgrade. More balanced. Its probably the best combination we can throw out there.

I can think of many ways to acknowledge struggles without calling out individuals, so I'm not sure why you seem to be fixated on that piece. But they have been critical of play in the past, and stated such. Angelo himself said that the QB play must improve after the season last year. He didn't mention Kyle Orton.

It's very rarely just a player's fault in a vacuum, and I understand that. But to sit there and say they are playing well is just wrong, and insulting. There are many better ways to go.

"We've got a good offensive line,'' Turner said. --No, you actually don't and it is obvious.

"They're good football players." --Perhaps, but what you are getting out of them currently is not good so it's a meaningless comment.

"They're playing well" -- No, they most definitely are not.

If you want to know what I think he should do, it would be to simply do what some others on the staff have done -- acknowledge that there are challenges, and that they are working to fix them. Not those statements above. Those are "stick your head in the sand" comments that make me uncomfortable as a Bear fan.

It's post trade deadline and there are no decent free agents on the street. They are making changes, so there really isn't anything else they can do. Comparing it to the GM talking about the need to settle the QB situaiton in the offseason is pointless.

I keep hearing rumors that KC plans to release Larry Johnson. If this happens, should the Bears be interested?

Might be interesting for the rest of this year, because of Peterson's situation and only having 2 active RBs. But I don't think LJs a particularly good fit and I don't think he would want to play 2nd fiddle.

Also, he's done, and he stinks. 2nd fiddle is about all he might be good for now, and I'm not even sure he'll be good for that.

Bears will help turn the lakefront orange on Sunday

Posted: 10/29/2009 2:31:00 PM

The Bears will wear their alternate orange jerseys for the fifth straight year Sunday when they host the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field. Chicago is 3-1 when wearing orange, defeating the 49ers 17-9 in 2005 and 41-10 in 2006 and the Vikings 48-41 in 2008 while losing to the Lions 16-7 in 2007.

The orange jerseys have white numbers with navy blue trim. The sleeves of the jerseys have three navy blue stripes with white trim. The letters “GSH,” in honor of George S. Halas, are on the left sleeve in white with blue trim.

The orange jerseys the Bears have worn each year since 2005 are different than the ones they donned in 2004 on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas. Those were orange throwback jerseys.

Bears fans attending Sunday’s game are encouraged to either wear orange or Walter Payton jerseys on what will be the 10th anniversary of the Hall of Famer's death. A special halftime tribute is planned to honor Sweetness.

I didn't realize they would wear the alternates this weekend, and yet today I am wearing my alternate Tommie Harris jersey. Hmmmm......coincidence, or providence?

Got my Bears baseball cap on with Lovie's autograph on it, too. Oh yes, I'm not giving up on this damn team yet. 8-)

Someone want to explain to me why the Chicago Bears, one of the NFL's premier and most popular franchises, has the smallest stadium in the NFL? How does that make sense?

Yeah, not only is it small, but the renovations caused it to be delisted from the national registry of historical landmarks.

Not a good thing since it was the fact that it was listed as a historical landmark that caused them to work around the framework of the building in the first place.

I enjoy going to games there, but there's no question it's butt ugly when viewed from the outside.
