Fredi Gonzalez in Trouble in Florida?

Jon Heyman is reporting on si.com that Gonzalez is in trouble because Marlins owner Jeffery Loria is disappointed that the team did not make the posteason.

 

It looks like Piniella is going to be back in 2010 but I'd be very happy if Gonzalez replaced him this offseason.

I don't know how anyone can be mad that the Marlins didn't make the postseason. They just don't have the talent to be a Wild Card, and they have no shot at winning the division with Philly there. Loria should be happy they were even in some form of contention the last two years.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about Fredi that makes him so appealing to you? Him coming out of the Braves organization (and from coaching under Bobby Cox) had me somewhat interested when we hired Lou, but are you more familiar with him?

Gonzalez's job looks to be safe for 2010. I'm guessing he won't last the year or won't be back for 2011, which gives the Cubs the opportunity to hire him for their managerial position after old man Lou is put out to pasture.

He actually hit Coghlan in the leadoff spot 106 times and Bonifacio 53 times. That's still 53 times too many for Bonifacio, but once they acquired Johnson to play 1B, he made the smart move by putting Cantu at 3B and benching Bonifacio.
