If Briggs is out hopefully Hillenmeyer and/or Pisa can play. I really don't want to see Shaw/McClover, Roach, and Williams as our starting LBs, although as was mentioned above, we could still probably pull off a win.

If Briggs is out you'll see that point spread drop a bit more.

I'm not comfortable with him being out even against the lions

More power rankings, SI.com has the Bears at 16, the worst of the 2-1 teams. SI of course is the same publication (but not same writer) that predicted the Bears to make the Super Bowl a month ago.

I really don't understand why our stock has plummeted. It probably goes back to week one, where Cutler threw four picks on national TV, and Urlacher was lost for the season. But since then we've upset the defending champs, and won in a very hostile environment. The Vikings schedule has been cake thus far and yet they're practically being worshiped. That probably has something to do with who their QB is.

I think it also has to do with:

A) Urlacher being out for the year, downgrading the defense in our minds

B) Both of our wins are of the "could have gone either way" variety, and were both aided by multiple missed FGs by the opponent's kicker.

Then again, I really don't know if the people that do these power rankings even spend more than 15 seconds evaluating each team.

That was Peter King though, and he's consistently much higher on the Bears. Don Banks has been pretty consistently down on the Bears.

Biggs this morning: looks like Briggs will go. Tiso, probably not.

If only one goes...I would prefer it to be this way.

There was also some talk during that segment about how the Bears are disappointed in Jamar Williams' play. The thought was that the Bears would like to work someone else in, but just can't do it right now.

Peter King is kind of schizo with the Bears. He fluctuates betweer too much hate and too much love.

What did he think of them the year they went to the Super Bowl? I remember Dr. Z from Si had them at the bottom or near the bottom.

Bears 35

Kitties 10

Forte finally get's on track this week as well.

Really?

He was supposed to last week because Seattle has a terrible run defense. But a terrible run offense made up for that.

Peter King is a weird dude:

1. Jay Cutler will have the kitchen sink thrown at him. He's 12-0 when he's efficient -- when he has a passer rating over 100 -- and Detroit's secondary isn't good enough to sit back and hope he implodes. The Lions will take chances with their pass rush, because if they sit back, their secondary will get scorched.

Um...so when the QB is really good, the team wins? I'm gonna guess that goes for most QB's...and even if not, like I think we've all said before, using W-L record is a stupid evaluation tool...what a worthless stat.

This is Peter King, the man who continues to argue that Derek Jeter is the best baseball player of his lifetime. Abandon all logic and reason, ye who enter there.

Going to the game this weekend as of a little while ago... My first Bears game ever... can't wait

Congrats. I still have yet to get to one. TB @ Indy back in the Marshall Faulk days is still the only NFL game I've ever been too.
