If there is one place where I fear playing a team regardless of how good or bad they are, its Qwest. That said, I really hope our guys don't see the injury report and decide to take this team lightly. I actually think it will be somewhat close. I'll go with:

Bears 24

Seahawks 17

So Hass is doubtful but Housh and Spencer will play. Interesting...Spence back will help balance the line. I would expect at least 150 total rushing yards this week.

For those here underrating Seneca, I pity you...He is better than you would expect and if given a situation like Cassel & Schuab got with filling in for injuries for a season, he would be the media hyped "next thing"

Clearly i'm a big fan. The biggest issue will be the LB corp. Not having 2/3 of one of the best LB corp in the league hurts tremendously.

Can't wait for the new Green uni's though...

As a Bama fan I definately know how dangerous a player like Senaca can be, as he almost lead his pesky Cyclones past Bama in the 2001 Independence Bowl.

With that said, let's not overrate Seneca Wallace, either. To paraphrase Denny Green, "he is what is he." If Seattle is counting on him to win the game for the Hawks, then you have bigger problems then you're letting on, and if the Bears can't stop a career backup like Wallace then they shouldn't win the game, period. I'm not underrating Wallace, but there is reason why he is a backup QB and why nobody has made an attempt to trade for him, he's good enough to be in the league, but not good enough to start.

As for your claim about if given the chance he would be the next "big thing" like Cassell and Schaub, maybe but consider Wallace is already pushing 30 yrs old and he still hasn't had his big break, wheras Cassel was 26 when he got his break, and Schaub was also 25-26 when he got the hype. Not to mention both Cassel and Schaub are both 6'5 230lbs QB, whereas Senace is a very Antwaan Randle Eesque 5'11 195 lbs.

Again, I know he is decent enough player, prolly enough skills to win football games at a short-term basis, but if the Bears play their football then Seneca prolly isn't going to have a good day. It should be a fun game, but this is a game I expect the Bears to win.

he had his chance last year and did pretty well but i doubt anyone thinks of him as anything more than a career backup.

clearly you're oblivious to the bears' situation. have you ever even heard of the chicago bears? you know, they're a football team that plays in chicago. they have some pretty good linebackers sitting out as well.

i would be pretty disappointed if the seahawks won this game. if the bears consider themselves a playoff team they better trounce these guys.

Wow. Denny Green should probably just stop talking entirely.

Ok, ok, I wasn't paraphrasing, I was spoofing his "they are what we thought they were" speech after the Bears a couple of yrs ago.

when's the next national Bears game? I'm pretty much not going to get any of their games unless they are on Sunday/Monday night or are playing an Ohio team

They play the Falcons on SNF after the bye on October 18th.

They play the Bengals the week after that.

After that, you won't see them until back to back national games on Thurs night (11/12) vs. SF and on SNF (11/22) vs. the Eagles.

I was doing a little breakdown of the Bears schedule today. I am going to make the following 2 assumptions:

1. 10-6 is the goal for a playoff spot

2. The Bears will beat Detroit (twice), Cleveland, and St. Louis

So the Bears are 5-1, needing to go 5-5 against the rest of the schedule to hit 10-6. The thing is, the rest of the schedule has no real cupcakes in there. I'll break them down into 2 categories: Championship contenders, and playoff contenders. Obviously these are very arguable, but whatever.

Championship contenders:

@Minnesota

Minnesota

@ Baltimore

Philadelphia

@ Atlanta

Playoff contenders:

@Cincinnati

Green Bay

@ Seattle

@San Francisco

Arizona

Pretty tough schedule. So I'm thinking we can definitely split against Minnesota, and we should be able to beat Green Bay at home (more of a guess than another assumption). So of the remaining 3 championship contenders, we should probably win 1 of the 3. That leaves us with needing to go 2-2 against the other category to get to 10-6.

Can we go 1-2 against Baltimore, Philly and Atlanta, likewise can we go 2-2 against Cincinnati, Seattle, SF, and Arizona? I think we can, but it should be interesting...we've definitely had easier schedules.

I see us splitting with Minnesota, and then beating Philly while losing to Baltimore and Atlanta. So assuming we can beat Detroit twice, and then St. Louis and Cleveland, that would make us 7-4. When it comes to the other games, I'm not convinced Seattle or Cincinnati are that good, so I'll say 2-0 against them. And just because I've already assumed so many wins, I'll say 1-2 against Green Bay, San Francisco, and Arizona, putting us at 10-6 and hopefully good enough to win the division or a wild card.

If we play for the full 60 minutes, we should have a pretty good chance against Atlanta.

I've been to Qwest three times now - one seahawks game and two sounders games. Let me tell you, do not underestimate what you hear about the noise level there. It's completely true, and not even really overstated. It's freaking insane. Hope the Bears are prepared, and have a good game plan, because it's apparently pretty easy for things to get lost on the field there. With that said, my handful of Seattle sports buddies are not feeling well about this game at all. They just cite all the injuries, and are fairly convinced Cutler will shred them. They're not concerned about Forte.

We'll see. Go Bears!!

Knox taking over primary returning duties.

"Johnny's the guy," special teams coach Dave Toub said. The Bears want Danieal Manning to focus on defense, and he could return the occasional kick, but Knox has flashed his speed this season and the Bears want to see what he can do as a returner.
