Since April:

-Cubs suck it up all season

-Bulls lose Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose gets his reputation hurt by the Memphis allegations

-Hawks have an abysmal offseason, Patrick Kane punches taxi driver

I kept saying, at least we got Cutler all season but now that looks like it's a mistake.

That's a weird, overreactive thing to day after one game.

Oh Jesus.

I love BG, but the Bulls weren't going anywhere this season anyway. It's all about 2010. The Hawks will be fine and like I've said repeatedly, Cutler will be fine. If the Bears have problems this year, it won't be due to Jay Cutler but rather the secondary and the WR's. Forte needs to stay healthy too because my guy GW shouldn't be a second string RB on any NFL team, let alone a team trying to win a divison.

Let's get Kyle Orton back. He just wins.

Just like today... Just win, baby.

Kyle Orton doesn't lose. It's not that he wins.

Big difference!

Are you being serious?

The game and this thread have given me a headache. I am one of the worse overreactors and even I know this game---while it does have the frustrations---isn't worth the overexaggerration in this thread. Kyle Orton would have won this game? Trading for Cutler was a big mistake? Gimme a break. Crap happens. To the Bears fans who are also Cubs fans, why are you surprised about everything that happened tonight?

As for the Packers/Cubs fans, I swear if the Packers do something as stupid as "Untuck 'em" like he Brewers, then oh wait they did do something stupid, it was that did figure skating esque celebration that Rodgers did. Is there anything less macho then what Rodgers did? But oh well.

Simple truth....there isn't that ONE great team in the NFC north, so the division is winnable. At least what I am telling myself tonight.

I'm reading that Pisa will probably be out at least 3 weeks as well. Our LBs go from strength to major weakness for awhile. That plus a tough schedule to start the season = trying hard to fight off pessimism.

Wow, I didn't realize Bears fans were this bad.

The Urlacher news is horrible, though.

The Tribune isn't reporting anything as far as length of time that Urlacher will be out right now. They said the surgery could just be to set the bone. Hopefully it's a quick recovery.

Wow, the Bears home site just called the game "disastrous."

I'm not used to seeing them use that kind of language.....ever. They usually try to put a positive spin on things, and with the Bears leading the game in the 4th quarter and the defense playing well, I would have expected that positive spin to be applied. But apparently not.

A cursory view of the Bears message board reveals exactly what I said would happen long ago: as soon as Cutler throws a few picks, many Chicago fans won't be able to handle it.

My view? Everyone is talking about Cutler this week. What they should really be talking about is how much this defense is going to miss Urlacher in the middle. Especially with Pittsburgh coming to town.

The Bears lost this game in more ways than one. I thought the Bears defense played well, GB has a good offense. As for my RT complaint i hated the 3rd and goal call where Cutler only had Olsen as an option. I would of liked to see them go 2 or 3 wide and at least give cutler somebody besides one player to go to.

Blame the Wr's, blame the line, blame Clark or whoever if you must, but to me I blame Ron [expletive] Turner. What a horrific way to start the 1st game of the season, with a new QB, in a hostile environment, against your biggest rival. Just absolutely horrible game plan to start the game. They made no attempt at getting Forte established until very late in the 2nd quarter, and beginning of the 3rd. Why? Why in the world would they think its a good idea to come out throwing every damn play, and putting all the pressure on your pumped up, overly excited brand new QB? Im so sick of Ron Turner and his horse [expletive] playcalling. Every year its the same stupid ass play calling.

Pretty much. Turner has been horrendous in his time here and seemed like the worst possible option to have for a team trying to adjust to a whole new type of offense.

a few observations of the game:

1. the bears are a better team than the packers. they dominated the game in every facet except turnovers.

2. turner needs to go. his offense is predictable and frustrating. it's not geared for a dynamic quarterback like cutler and doesn't accent his strengths. hire mike shanahan.

3. packer fans are fucks, although their douche-to-normal ratio is lower than bear fans'.

This is correct.

Plus, this, which I wrote to a buddy and my Dad this morning:

I only blame Cutler for two of his four picks (the botched screen pass and the last one that Harris picked; the other two seemed to be caused by guys not finishing their routes), and I thought the second half was very encouraging. The defense was very good sans Alfalava biting on the playaction at the end. The O-Line was better in the 2nd half. GB’s defense was very good as expected and I never thought the Bears would light them up. Similar issue with Pitt next week.

In sum, a few issues to address:

1) O-Line on running plays outside the tackles;

2) Injuries on defense;

3) Teach the receivers to keep moving until Cutler releases the ball. You see, guys, this QB can actually reach you…

4) Ron Turner’s play-calling. For the love of God, would it kill you to hand it off to Forte in the first half rather than passing 10 out of 12 times? No wonder the Packers pinned their ears back in the first half. Oh, and look what happened in the second half when you ran the ball far more – Cutler had a pocket to throw in!!!

In sum, don't panic. The Bears were the better team overall but didn't make game-changing plays via turnovers like the Packers did. If Cutler hadn't thrown the poor screen pass and two of his receivers hadn't given up on their routes the Bears would have won by 10. If they continue to lose turnover battles they will lose many close guys like last night's, but let's wait and see how things go. Two more very tough games ahead, but then things soften up considerably.

Well, I mean, you don't live in Chicago, so it's understandable. But they're worse than this.

He was horrible once again. Turner has had all sorts of time and all sorts of QBs to work with as a pro OC and he's shown nothing to this point. If he somehow screws the pooch with Cutler around it would have to be the end of his time here, right?

GB lost a DB or two on that late drive when they had to settle for a FG and it was ridiculous how Turner refused to exploit that fact. He went all pass happy crazy throughout most of the game then completely shut down into ultra-conservative typical Bears offense when they got anywhere close to the end zone.
