2009 Regular Season - Week 1 - Bears vs Pack - 9/13 7pm NBC

Posted
Pisa with a knee sprain, Urlacher with a dislocated wrist.

If that's the case, I think Urlacher will likely be playing next week.

Lovie said both will be re-evaluated tomorrow. Dez has a back bruise.

Okay, so I'm guessing they'll play next week. Good.

Knee sprain could potentially be a torn ACL. Those are usually initially diagnosed as knee sprains.

Bad coaching, questionable QB play, and some really weird play calls.

Feels like every other year for the Bears.

I still can't help but be more optimistic going forward than other years. But maybe that's the delusional Chicago sports fan in me.

Look, Cutler played pretty badly against the Bills in the preseason opener, but came back and played a great games against both NEW YORK GIANTS and the Denver Broncos. He played well against one of the better defenses in the Giants, and played great while playing in a hostile environment in Denver. So, if that continues I expect the Bears on the whole to play alot better next week.

Dude you're comparing preseason (the world where the Lions go 4-0 and the Packers never punt) to regular season. Neither the Giants or Broncos were showing much of anything they would run in the regular season. Besides in both the Giants and Broncos games, he threw passes that went right off defenders hands, at least one that was guaranteed to be a pick 6

Is it weird to lose a horribly played game like this and actually feel BETTER about the team than before the game?

Honestly that's how I'm feeling.

look on the bright side, that should be the worst game pretty much everyone is going to have all year (hopefully).

That game would have been nice to win, but it's not time to jump off the ledge.

The Chicago media and most of the fanbase are going to be freaking embarrassing though.

No I think next week is going to be the worst game. Pittsburgh is physical and our offense wont be able to score. My only hope is that Palomalo is out.

Yeah, I know. I've torn enough ligaments/tendons/muscles to last a lifetime. I should have said if it ends up being "just" a sprain. He should be good to go sooner than later.

I can see it. You played one of the worst games your going to play all year and still almost beat a decent to good team on their own field.

Guys on Comcast just said that Urlachers injury diagnosis "doesn't sound good"

Dislocated wrist...yep.

That's not good. With Urlacher I don't see how Green Bay wins.

Eh, after going 9-7 last year with much of the same thing, I think this team could pull that off again. Then again, this could be another one of those years where everyone goes down with some sort of an injury.

There are plenty of positives to take away from the game. The offense dominated basically the entire second half and were driving well in the first half also. The defense held the Packers to two long-range FG attempts and notched a safety (along with the one-yard TD) until that last blown play by Vasher. Turnovers and special teams gaffes led directly to 10 Packers points and additionally killed two drives on the Packers end of the field.

I'm not worried about this team at all, aside from the injuries to the LBs. They really did have their way with the Packers, just made too many mistakes.

He had a great view while having his head down motioning to Wolfe. But the point is that the 5 yard flag wouldnt have given the Bears a first down and they would have punted anyway.
