Heres the pic from the Sun-Times..He either looks like someone stole his double whopper or he's thinking of another Gregg and Miles type player to sign.

I hate the term "man up". It's so stupid.

Nothing personal.

i'd rather not see any pictures of him looking sad; i don't want to place a human face on my hatred

For some reason, whenever I think of Jim Hendry, I think of this guy:

He might acknowledge that he screwed up, but he also knows that his moves last year got him tons of praise, as did his move to pick up Baker, and his Grabow/Gorzo trade. No matter how bad his offseason moves are, he knows that he's made some good moves and some bad moves. He has made the playoffs 3 of the last 6 years, so I doubt Hendry believes he's doing something wrong with regards to his approach as a GM. He probably chalks things up to "all gms make some good moves and some bad moves."

Based on his comments throughout this year, he seems to be very sure that there was no way last year's team would compete for a championship this year unless some changes were made. Although he made the wrong moves, I'm sure he still believes he needed to make changes. Basically what I'm saying is, that unless he gets fired, he won't change the way he builds next year's team. I think he's had enough success to be sure enough in what he's doing and one bad year won't change it.

I don't agree with this at all, but I'm trying to think from his perspective.

Good for you, Jim. So what are you going to do about it to make up for the fact that it will now be an intolerable 101 years without a championship? And what will yo do to prevent fans from having to sit through yet another rebuilding program before enjoying a title?

Funny, because I always think of Good Ole JR whenever I hear Hawk Harrelsons babble. either him or this guy

Would you prefer Cowboy Up?

or screw up, which is what he did to this team.

Might as well go whole hog and say [expletive] up.

Well at least he's accepting blame. It would be refreshing if Soto, Bradley, Fontenot, Piniella, Zambrano, Marmol, Gregg, Miles, and anyone I forgot would "man up" too.

Everyone knows the Cubs' problem is that they aren't suited to play in large parks.

Manager Lou Piniella said it's no "coincidence" they have played so poorly.

"Wrigley Field is a smaller ballpark that plays to our scheme of things a lot better," Piniella said, adding the Cubs are "built for power."

Does this mean that next year Hendry will trade away our power bats for a team full of Juan Pierre's?

Dusty Baker always had an excuse, but didn't he start coming up with the most ridiculous excuses for his team towards the end of his tenure?

I suspect they'll next be billed as built for the AL. Switch leagues and we'd be in the playoffs.
