Davies

Are you talking about Rashied Davis? For some reason I thought his name was Davies for a while.

Yeah, my bad.

part of me has a feeling that one of knox/iglesias ends up on the practice squad

Problem there is that Knox could actually be useful as a returner, and Iglesias I don't think would pass through waivers.

I could see that, but I doubt the Bears will send a 3rd round pick to the practice squad, and outside of Hester, Knox is the only potential down field threat on the Bears. I think both make the team, now Rideau on the other hand is a different story.

Hester

Bennett

Iglesias

Knox

Davies

Aromashodu

I'd get rid of the rest.

I'm pretty sure that's how it's gonna shake out. Not sure you meant anything by the order, but I'm pretty sure Aromashodu will be #3... the rest, I don't know. Davis is probably #4 and Iglesias/Knox is a wash at this point. Neither is quite ready.

Yeah, I didn't mean anything to the order beyond Hester and Bennett. I hope Aromashodu is the #3, I like what I've seen thus far.

Nobody loved that Football Outsiders piece as much as I did?

Oh I absolutely did. I'd love to see more of that as the season goes on. The mainstream may not want to see all the X's and O's, but I think it's fascinating. There's so much that goes into the game that you don't see on TV each Sunday.

Yea, that's the best thing I've read on football in a long time. I actually felt like I learned a lot about the game, which I can't say for much of anything I generally read about football.

I'm probably going to pick up the almanac... The PDF is only 12 bucks.

I'd love to...just trying to save some pennies at the moment. Maybe next year.

Iglesias wouldn't clear waivers to make it to the practice squad.

Im not sure I see a reason to keep Davis. Cutler has zero trust in him, and hes shown in years past his hands are terrible. Keep the young guys, and let Davis go. The only thing Davis brings to this team is special teams, and hes nothing fantastic at that.

I'm ok with letting Davis go, but all reports are that he's probably safe because of ST. He had a pretty good ST performance against Denver.

There would be a better chance of Davis clearing waivers as well. If so you can still stash him on the practice squad.

He can be a gunner on Peter King's team anyday.

I would have to agree. I don't see the need for veteran know how when that veteran don't know how to catch a football. If you want to hang onto a solid veteran who has lost a step due to his veteran presence, fine. But I can't imagine Davis having any use as a wise old man capable of teaching the kids anything.

Davis can't go on the practice squad, I don't believe. Only players with less than an accrued season of NFL experience can be on one and Davis has been around for 4 years.

The practice squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more

than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL

experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games

during their only Accrued Season(s).

Exactly if this was some sort of established veteran WR then keep him around, but Davis has done nothing in the NFL. Keep the young guys who have a chance at being serviceable over the guy who has a history of not being able to catch the ball.

Wolfe had more tackles on ST last year than Peterson. I think Wolfe has passed AP as a ST defender and has the ability to return kicks. Peterson had some pretty big screw ups on ST last year. The ATL game I believe, and he dropped a pass on a fake punt that could have iced it vs. Green Bay.

Why not Iglesias and/or Rideau to the practice squad?

Iglesias wouldn't pass waivers and I don't really knokw about Rideau's situation. Has he spent too much time on a practice squad?

Yes, he's no longer practice squad eligible, at least not on the Bears.
